This website will also illustrate the necessity of parents to be there for their children and for teachers to play a pivotal role in helping children separate fact from fiction during television viewing. Television is by far the most popular and most powerful medium in which children are exposed. It probably could be argued that television is more influential than parents are to children, however all television does not have to have negative effects on children. Many programs do have positive themes behind them. A study by Aletha C. Huston and John C. Wright (1998) examined the studies portrayed television as having negative effects on children, and proved that most of these studies are faulty.
Those are the basic ideas of the television shows 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. To many people having to finish high school is difficult enough for ordinary teenagers. Adding a young child to the image can increase more stress, anxiety, and nervousness. These shows are amusing to many because it indicates the dreadful sides of having a kid at a young age and displays to teenagers the difficulties of having a baby when they their selves are still kids.
When violence is included in speech or an action a child’s favorite show or movie it wouldn’t be uncommon if that youth would try to imitate it. “Many shows glamorize violence. TV often promotes violent acts as a fun and effective way to get what you want, without consequences, Even in G rated movies violence is common” (Boyse Online). As children are growing it’s important what parents put in the stomach’s of their child so it’s also important what being fed to their brain. And reality shows is bring us truths story and get people having more knowledge. The second reason I think why “reality TV” shows are a good idea because is show how people live. From the reality TV show people who watching can learn about their personality. Also they can reset itself in different situation. For example, “Keeping up with the Kardashians” the show about her family life and what problems they face on.
Similarly, Dr. Henry states, “We don’t have to think about the problems we have in our real lives and we get to weigh in on the choices and mistakes of a population that was foreign to us before the reality TV era.” Everyone has problems, and although it is unhealthy, it is always easy to put them aside. Therefore causing the popularity of reality television to increase, since it allows us to forget about our own troubles and focus on more glamorous
Steven Reiss and James Wilts analyzed reality shows and have proven through an experiment done at The Ohio State University to be a good source where young adults can find motivation to feel self-important, as well as friendlier, free of morality, secure and romantic. Why it is that reality TV has always been demonize to be a harmful inspiration on young adults if it can help personalize a teenager’s character? Many do not realize how watching an almost real TV show can actually affect a person personality because teenagers are able to relate to these shows more, thus allowing for a change. Reality TV is able to exploit impressions or problems that will most likely be relatable to the teenagers, because they are exploiting a teen’s flaw teens tend to get more self-confidence because they are no longer in the close oppression of social standards. Reality shows are able to set a basic but quality standard for teens in their structural basis of finding a common problem in society and solving that problem.
As many parents and educators like to emphasise, “Violent video games make kids more violent”. Video games affecting youth is a very debatable topic. Most people just come to that conclusion without acquiring any evidence or reason, but there are some reasons why this is a wrong assumption. I believe that violent video games are actually good for people. They allow them to have an escape from real life which is positive, the violence allows people (young people in particular) to think morally about what they are doing, and most violent games let children have fun with their friends.
He needs to explore this new place. Be sure to leave the crate door open so the dog can come in and out as it pleases. I find that it works well to use a small treat to lure the dog into the crate. When the dog first arrives do this several times so he begins to understand. Also when he is going in the crate I use the command "kennel up".... ... middle of paper ... ...n a puppy that is used to soiling his crate.
“Adults should trust teens to be responsible for their media choices and listen to them about why the stories they like are important, instead of fixating on their choices only as an opportunity to lecture on ‘having better things to do’ and ‘all the crap that’s on television’ (Campbell). Though not all television is good for teenagers, there is still a great deal of television aimed at teenagers that understand them without wrongly influencing them. The main concern should be whether, in the long run, television is beneficial or damaging to the overall person. Television comes with its negatives, bad influences from some shows and just outright stupidity from others. It also has some more positive intentions like molding the younger generations’ minds and promoting good morals for younger and older generations.
This can affect a child in many ways. Author John Leo explains that “Children who are heavy viewers of television are more aggressive”(Leo 29). Children, especially young, are not ready to distinguish right from wrong. When their favorite action hero is beating up a bad guy, kids think that it is all right. At a young age a kid will envy a character on television and will have a preconceived idea that whatever the character does is acceptable.
