This has created a favourable market for phone manufacturers and service providers all around the world. In Australia, the telecommunication business is doing well. However, a higher proportion of the population has developed a desire for smart phones. The demand for this kind of phone manly arise from teenagers, young adults and middle aged individuals. Finally, the phone should also be advertised in social networks (Bach, 2007). This includes advertisements on networks such as tweeter, facebook, MySpace and so on. A large number of the individuals who form the target group of iPhone 4S are members of these networks. It will therefore be much easier to reach them while advertising on these websites. It is through these organizations that customers know the latest products that are present in the market, means of acquiring new softwares and phone upgrades, where to purchase genuine phones within their localities and the best places to repair their phones (Jugger, 2009). Telecommunications gained mainstream attention in the early 90’s; however the initial key market was business men and women, who used their phones whilst being on the move and so allowing them to communicate with their companies with ease. Though in the modern era, telecommunication went through segmentation in the market trends, and now in this day and age it would be difficult to find someone who does not own some form of mobile technology. Many phone providers battle to provide the best service for their customers (Figure 1).
Mobile is the first order priority device for access because people are connecting with others, finding entertainment, and doing business—all with smart phones. The prices of mobile phones are never over $1,000 in today’s world. They are affordable and accessible. As the result of the changes the worldwide and national business environment has undergone, people own 1-2 cell phones on average. However, the mobile markets in US seems to have been saturated.
It is difficult to exist in today’s society without being influenced by the dramatic increase of the technology use and especially the use of cell phones. The cell phone market is becoming more saturated and competitive. Thus, marketers tend to look for new segment groups, study them, and eventually influence their decisions. Due to the rise reliance on technology, much of the communication between teens occurs through the digital use, particularly through their cell phones. More than 65% of American preteens have their own cell phones. (Solomon 2011) Consequently, marketers believe that children are the new targeted customer that will create the future market growth in the smartphone industry.
Whenever a person is communicating through a telephone they are unaware of the nonverbal communication cues throughout the whole conversation. Since the person is not relying on visual cues, problems are likely to arise. In Garth’s case, when he calls the Auto Dealer, he begins to become easily irritated and decides to stop doing business with the dealer. The reasons why Garth became easily irritated all began with the greetings of both the receptionist and the salesperson. Next Garth was placed on hold a total of 4 times and was cut off twice by two separate employers.

Brooke Crothers, a writer for Cnet.com, explains the simple yet artistic build of the phone, “Thinness, in my book, is the foundation for coolness. Devices to transmit speech electrically were designed by Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell, but Bell's design was patented first. On March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell achieved one of his greatest successes in the making of the telephone. This brought upon a major change in communication and gave leeway to the improvement of the telephone in the days to come (Bellis, 2013b). During the 20th century there were many innovations regarding the telephone. In 1973, the first call from a portable phone was made Martin Cooper, who was a Motorola researcher and executive at the time. Since its inception, the advancement of cell phones has been exponential (Bellis, 2013a). As a result, cell phones have changed how society works in today's world. Many people lack the insight of how cell phones, or in this case, smart phones, affect the people that use them. So the question is, how is the evolution of smart phones impacting our society?
