The problem of teenagers’ drug use, depression and suicide are evident in our society. Family problems can lead to arguments causing depression and isolation which drags a person towards drugs. Drugs can also lead to death as the drug abuse is increasing among teens in the UK. Teenagers do not realise the consequences they will have to face during their lives. The teenager might get into many conflicts with their family and friends which will create more problems and depression since the person will have no support. When a person is addicted to drugs he will do anything to fulfil his/her needs as they can go in to serious crimes e.g. stealing just for drugs. Not only that, their social lives gets very hard as the decrease in money and having no friends can turn out to be horrible. Their mental health pushes them down as they begin to move close to violence, gangs etc. The drugs addict’s are usually unemployed as they build up mistakes and do not interact with their colleagues at all. 48 per cent of people reported using drugs from the age of 10 to 15, which is a very serious problem.

Young people are depending on drugs as they think it will make them relaxed and pleasant. People sometimes use drugs to have fun and to fulfil or to find a way to cope with any difficulties they have in their lives. They may turn towards drugs because they have not found any other way to be happy. Yet, some teens get into peer pressure as their friends will encourage them and push them towards drugs, even though they do not wish to. Peer pressure can lead to terrible addiction and then it is very hard to get rid of any drugs at all. In conclusion the different areas in life that drugs can affect are: Health-both physical and mental, social lives, family and relationships with others, education and employment. The drug usage has been increasing among the teenagers, and affecting them badly. Depression is the biggest issue as it eventually eats through a person causing even major and harmful problems e.g. heart problems, disruption of menstrual cycle etc. Families should communicate better with each others that will keep them away from depression and stress and it will prevent them from having drugs.
