Teens Dangers and Risks; Driving

Driving is always an issue of concern for parents, grandparents, and other family members everywhere. Aside from the family, driving is raising concerns for police, firemen, first aid responders, and paramedics. “Every year, nearly 1.3 million people die from car related incidents, while another 20-50 thousand are injured or permanently disabled.” (Annual Global Road Crash Statistics). “Over 400 thousand of these deaths are attributed to people under the age of 25.” (Annual Global Road Crash Statistics). These are the so called “teen” years.

Speeding, driving while distracted, driving under the influence, and driving without consideration of regulations of the road are all embodiments of this kind of behavior. Proven by several studies conducted by the CDC, “teens are much more likely to speed and give less room on the road than an older more experienced adult.” (Teen Drivers). Speeding lessens the control someone has over a vehicle and increases the chances of a fatal wreck. Swerving off of the road at 60 miles an hour gives you a hell of a lot less control than going off the road at 40. Speeding creates dangerous situations and if combined with hazardous conditions, wrecks become a much higher possibility. Besides that, teens are constantly on their phones, and that does not seem to stop when they are behind the wheel.
