It illustrates the fancy lifestyle of rock and movie stars; the life of young, rich and famous persons on television as great examples of a perfect life. Most TV shows would picture famous artists and models managed themselves with lots of money, plenty of girl or boy friends, luxurious cars, castled housed and all others magnificent things. Media tries to teach people how money and famous can buy you the high status and power, thus, give everything you want. It seems like a dream come true, right? On the contrary, they seldom show programs picturing the negative side of those glamorous lifestyles.

A very popular answer among my question of a favorite reality television show was “Teen Mom.” The Four participants that said “Teen Mom” was their favorite were all girls from the age of eight teen to twenty two. Why is the show so popular and influential? The answer lies within the major plot themes. In watching every episode of the series, it becomes apparent that there are compelling themes carried throughout that the average viewer is drawn to. The characters in Gossip Girl live extravagant lives in a fictional version of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and viewers cannot help but envy them. Archetypal characters engaging in common sexual fantasies, frequent displays of no-strings-attached sexual encounters, and the tumultuous and passionate relationship of Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf all entrance the viewers, creating for them a fabulous fantasy world in which they can live vicariously through the drama of others, thus finding escape from the normalcy of real life.
Even if MTV shows all the hardships, they’re still being supported in so many ways. The way we bring people into fame for really not doing anything has created a culture where it is exciting to be a pregnant teen and the fact of the matter is that most teens who are pregnant do not have the same experience that the girls on those shows have” (cite 1) MTV sends a positive message and makes teens believe that high risk behaviors as a teen are not only tolerable, but the gateway to fame. Some teens might even think that girls could get pregnant purposely just for the publicity and money. There are also other shows, for instance “Jersey Shore” and “Real World”. Celebrities carry so much influence on young individuals today. These prominent celebrities and their influence in social media are apparent. Inevitably teens are given the opportunity to follow short term relationships, drugs, ridiculous fights and alcohol consumption, exhibited by the many celebrities admired today, viewing this as an ideal lifestyle. But in many cases not all celebrities demonstrate detrimental actions to the youth some have promoted wonderful deeds
These films contain teenage sex symbols who cannot act more than the “common man.” Yet, it seems as if these movies are quite popular. They more often than not reach the rank of top selling movie at the box-office. Their success illustrates much about our society- we want to see sex and cannot get enough. There are several formulaic characteristics of every teen movie. All of these films involve two teenagers of the opposite sex who “fall in love” with each other and describe their constant struggles in high school.
They have a beautiful teenager by the name of Jane, who‘s friends with your typical high school gossip girl (Angela). There are many significant others to the movie like the new family that just moved next door, or the top real estate agent who calls himself “The King”. There were so many different conflicts and alterations between the characters that made this movie so interesting to the viewers. American Beauty was a movie that shows us how our American society portrays the all American family to have the perfect relationships with one another. Little do the outsiders know about what really goes on inside the walls of the perfect household, and how they act towards each other.
Movie reviewers have seemingly grown in popularity and many look to those reviews to determine whether they are going to see that movie or not. Christy Lemire an AP writer, published on Huffington Post recently wrote a review for the sensational movie Silver Linings Playbook called, “Jennifer Lawrence Shines in New Comedy”. From focusing on the actors to the actual body of work, this review discusses all aspects of the film. This movie is witty and intriguing and unlike any other romantic comedy in this day an age. It follows the lives of two completely different, yet utterly compatible people named Tiffany and Pat.
The reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians is one of the top five reality shows being watched today. As adults may know these shows are scripted, staged, and extremely entertaining but these shows have a negative impact on younger, teenage girls. Teen girls between the ages of 11 and 17 years old who regularly watch these reality shows today believe the shows depict real-life are unscripted and spontaneous (Dove self-esteem). Reality shows that air today has very popular themes such as physical beauty, and unsuitable behavior that we tend to commonly see. These themes have major effects on teenagers today.
