Moore’s law can be defined as a forecast that the number of micro components that could be fitted into a silicon chip of the lowest developed cost would increase twofold after a period of eighteen months. It is another way of stating that the processing speed of a micro chip doubles every eighteen months. Since the speed of the microprocessor is increasing in a span of eighteen months, it means that it will take half the time that was previously taken, to execute a particular task. Business transactions can be performed faster within a shorter duration than usual. As the numbers of transistors increase every eighteen months, so will there be an increase in the space to store data. This means that more space will be required to handle the incoming data which will be coming at a high speed and going at the same high speed in the transmission of data. Nonroutine cognitive skills can be explained as skills that require one to be flexible, to have a sense of creativity and to be apt in problem solving. Knowing how to operate a certain machine in an organization is not a fact to guarantee job security in that particular sector (Yousef 2). This is so because such an operator can be hired from another area to perform that task. But the ability to handle complex unexpected situations in the workplace can guarantee security in the workplace. Clock speed is defined as the rate an industry evolves based on product, process or organizational change. By looking across multiple industries, it is possible to find some with very rapid clock speeds and others with exceptionally slow ones. By taking lessons from industries such as entertainment and computers (very fast), one can draw conclusions for the automobile and aircraft industries (longest cycles noted).
On the surface it gives the reader a factual and extremely detailed account of a team of engineers who between them create a new mini-computer (those machines you more often than not find in businesses and which have now in the most part been surpassed in power by the now ubiquitous desktop PC), a machine, advanced for its day (the story begins back in the late 1970's), but in many ways just another machine that, set against the developments in computing technology that have taken place since then, pales into insignificance performance-wise.
As I have noted, I truly believe that the numerous job skills that are needed to be successful include dedication, communication, and adaptation. First of all, you must be devoted to your career if you want exemplary results. Equally important, being able to articulate your ideas, and intellectually communicate said ideas will ensure a successful time at you occupation. Last but not least, in order to be successful in your employment, you must be flexible to the obstacles that are inevitable. I urge you to strive to obtain these essential job skills because they are worthwhile.
