Effect of new technology on athletes, coaches and players in professional sports
We all know about the advancements in technology over the recent decades all over the world. However, I will be talking about how new technology advancements have affected players, coaches, and fans in the sports world. Sports technology has revolutionized the entire industry itself. One of the main ways that new technology has affected players, coaches, and fans is the evolution of statistics and analytics, especially in baseball. Baseball has always been about numbers and statistics. But thanks to an explosion of data over the past seven years and the advent of new analytic software running on supercomputers, the game is on the cusp of changes that will make Moneyball look like it belongs in the minor leagues (Woodie). Possibilities for the NFL's future are endless, and they begin with Next Gen Stats. These microchips are inside the player's pads. Through this you can measure things like acceleration, deceleration, things like that. 12 to 15 times a second those tags on the player's shoulders are blinking. The sensors in the stadium are looking for those blinks and as they see them, they calculate the position of the player by the number of receivers that see each of the tags. Through the past 3 years, the NFL has brang Next Gen Stats to the Microsoft Xbox platform, NFL.com, and Windows 10. Also, Next Gen Stats are available in the league's fantasy football product. Beyond Next Gen Stats, there are also images, charts, and visuals that can use data from the statistics from the microchips to enhance the fan experience. As previously mentioned, Paul DePodesta, an analyst from the Oakland Athletics, was on the foreground of this type of analysis in the MLB. His discovery of the correlation between winning percentage and team revenues was just the starting point. His methodology of model building was briefly touched on before, but it started with running regression analysis on a series of different typical baseball statistics, and continued with his finding of On Base Percentage and Slugging Percentage being the stats that correlated closest to winning percentage, and the implementation of the AVM systems models outputting a player’s expected run values. MLB’s regression analysis on a player’s MRP for a team is some of the most sophisticated in professional sports, with other leagues and teams starting to catch on and attempting to create their own models of MRP for their respective leagues. By taking the labor market theory and MRP of players and analyzing how they interact with wage determination and competitive balance mechanisms, we can make an economic analysis of the labor market inefficiencies.

Baseball statistics are meant to be a representation of a player’s talent. Since baseball’s inception around the mid-19th century, statistics have been used to interpret the talent level of any given player, however, the statistics that have been traditionally used to define talent are often times misleading. At a fundamental level, baseball, like any game, is about winning. To win games, teams have to score runs; to score runs, players have to get on base any way they can. All the while, the pitcher and the defense are supposed to prevent runs from scoring. As simplistic as this view sounds, the statistics being used to evaluate individual players were extremely flawed. In an attempt to develop more specific, objective forms of statistical analysis, the idea of Sabermetrics was born. Bill James, a man who never played or coached professional baseball, is often credited as a pioneer in the field and for coining the name as homage to the Society of American Baseball Research, or SABR. Eventually, the use of Sabermetrics became widespread in the Major Leagues, the first team being the Oakland Athletics, as depicted in Moneyball. Bill James and other baseball statisticians have developed various methods of evaluating a player performance that allow for a more objective view of the game, broadly defined as Sabermetrics.
In sports, there are always rules and regulations to what an athlete can ingest or use. They create these rules and regulations so competitors don 't have a physical or psychological advantage over their competition. These restrictions usually pertain to illegal drugs and substances that would give that athlete a boost in their performance. I personally agree with José Luís Pérez Triviño, a senior lecturer in philosophy of law, who believes technological developments, as well as many minor substances, will create transgenic athletes. Even though football players are aware of the dangers the game can bring upon them, they take part despite it. The passion, the joy it creates; for professionals it’s also the devoted fans and compensation they receive is what keeps the players motivated. Today players are much bigger, faster, smarter, bigger, better. The game is more physical. The sport has never been so competitive. The popularity has reached new peaks, as much that the NFL has thoughts of moving a team to London, England. Additionally, Super Bowl XLVII (47) was one of the most watched television events of all time; an astonishing 108.4 million viewers (The Associated Press). Fans worship their teams and love to see big hits. Football is a contact sport; injuries are no doubtingly part of it. Concussions are one of the many detriments caused by the ruthlessness, but one of the few with perpetual effects: consequence of the brutality.

The National Football League (NFL) has been a staple on Sunday’s in America homes for quiet sometime. It provides excitement and generates billion’s of dollars, but what I told you that this league may lose viewers or even not exist in a few years. The NFL is a great brand, but what is potentially going up against may have you scratching your head as a parent to let your child even take a snap early in his football career if not taken care of.
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
Information Technology has quickly became an everyday part of life. It is used in almost every aspect of our lives. It used at home to check e-mail, send text messages, and surf the web. It is used at work for networking and even many modern telephone systems. In many cases IT is simply a part of our day. Major League Baseball is no different. The league has also become very active in the IT world. It is used in almost every single aspect of the game, as well as the business. If you look back at baseball through the ages, it is easy to see just how much it has changed. The trick for Major League Baseball was they knew they had to advance to keep up in today’s world. However, at the same time, they knew that fans loved the game of baseball because of its history. Baseball has a legendary past that is appealing to fans. They want the modern technologies without losing the vintage appeal. Major League Baseball has done just that. They have become one of the most technologically advanced sports in America. Everything from how tickets are purchased all the way to just how the games are broadcast, it has all changed dramatically.
The ball comes speeding over the net and slams down onto the face of the court landing just beyond the base line, the line running along the back of the court. I had called her winning point... "out." As I turned towards her, I could see the anger building in her eyes. We walked towards each other, and with only the net separating us, she began to confront me. She argued that, as she saw it, the ball was obviously in and that we should replay the point. I wanted this game as much as she did and we were both standing strong. I finally decided that there was no use in fighting. We had to resolve this argument between ourselves because there were no line judges to decide for us. We decided to replay the point and she won. I tried to convince myself that there would be times when a call would be questionable and that I should try not to point fingers. I still went home discouraged that night because I knew that the call I had made was fair.
The type of data that will be collected throughout this paper will be from Major League baseball from over the past years. There are various types of data for each part of the game, such as hitting and pitching statistics. Applied to that data will be the mathematical formulas and calculations that will help get us the end statistics that are so important to the game and they will show overall how math is an influential part of the game.

They simply must see who extended his hitting streak and how many strikeouts the winning pitcher recorded. Their bookshelves are crammed full of record books, team yearbooks, and baseball almanacs.
