Man has become very dependant on technology. Without it everyday living would be difficult. Life would be peaceful if we didn’t have machines running people’s lives. Dependence on technology is detrimental to humanity, and will eventually lead to many dilemmas in the future.
In this generation, mankind has become extremely reliant on technology. There isn’t a day that goes by that people don’t talk on their cell phones, drive a car, or utilize some type of machine. Technology has completely overtaken people’s lives and they don’t even realize it. Everyday use of automobiles, television, and cellular devices, has left humans with unhealthy bodies, and has put them at risk for serious health issues. This is all due to scarce physical activity, and the mass production of unnatural food sources.
Humans used to work to get a meal each day, if they wanted cookies, “[they] would have to fire up a wood stove and make the dough from scratch. Nowadays they, “jump into [a] car and head for the nearest convenience store – [and] if that’s too much effort, [they] pick up a phone or log on to the Internet and have the [items] delivered to [their] door.”(Lemonick 58-69) Technology hasn’t only taken away humans will power to make their own food, it also consistently advertises the unhealthy food to them. This raised up the obesity rate much higher. Everyone watches television so people have seen how, “technology has allowed advertisers to deliver constant, virtually irresistible messages that say - Eat this now- to everyone old enough to watch tv.” The mass production of these unhealthy foods, that are advertised to people, is cheap and convenient for the producers. People’s health will continue to decline due to the nonstop use of machi...

In today's world, technology is constantly changing from a new paperclip to an improvement in hospital machinery. Technology lets people improve the way they live so that they can preserve their own personal energy and focus on the really important factors in life. Some people focus their energy on making new innovations to improve transportation and the health of people that may save lives and some people focus on making new designs of packaging CDS. Technology is significant in everyone's life because it rapidly changes what is in the market. But, some new innovations of technology are ridiculous because they serve no purpose in helping mankind.
The human race is held ransom; there is no escape root by its own creation. The rate at which technological advancement happens is alarming. There is no knowing where this frenzy will end and what remains is the painful fact that unless something decisively courageous is done to halt this obsession, humanity faces an imminent obliteration by its own creations – technology.
People are consuming too many calories and aren’t physically active, because of changed lifestyles and technology advancement, in the last 20 years. Both adults and children pass a lot of time watching the television, playing video games and researching or chatting on the computer. These lifestyle changes encourage sedentary behavior. The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that in their study to calculate obesity across the nation. In 2010 “no state had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%” compared to a maximum of 15% to 19% in 15 to 20 states in 1994 (CDC, 2011). Physical inactivity and high calorie intake from processed food has made big changes to our health. Now days people don’t even cycle or walk to the grocery store, or at least walk to the nearest bus station to go to school or work. Every year people’s physical inactivity increases while our eating habit become worse.
In today’s world, technology has become a way of life, where survival is difficult without it. According to Jerry Mander, author of In the Absence of the Sacred, he mentions that technology is stressed; the effects it has on society and the living are not fully understood. The cause or diagnosis as to why Westerners are so attached to technology is because they believe life could not go on without it. They are steering away from the old practices of spirituality and religion, and are focusing on creating simpler
Aldous Huxley once said, “Technological Progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards.” Huxley, a philosopher and novelist, wrote this quote over forty years ago and yet it still resonates with the role technology plays today. The growth of technology has contributed to mankind's social demise making it ultimately harmful to all humankind. Begone are the days one would perform simple tasks without the aid of technology, our reliance on technology has grown so much that it is taking away jobs from real humans and ruining the way of life with simulations and indoor activities. The constant advancements in technology have weakened our society tremendously by making people co-dependent on technology through social
People have become overly dependent on technology. After the discovery of North America, founded by Christopher Columbus, people have become fixated on “The New World.” It allowed people to advance towards better opportunities and to start new beginnings. With the rising growth of technology, it has become an efficient, purposeful manipulation of the now material world. It is power that is applied through a machine or tool to perform a certain skill or technique. The United States, compared to other countries in the world, have the greatest standard of living with its accessible technologies. Since the 21st century, the use of technology has increased―technology is used for everything because it has become a requirement to function in today’s society.
For example, our new hypnotizing technology, fast food restaurants, and comfortable, lazy lifestyle, all made it easier for us to collect this pounds. We have all become glued to phone’s, I pad’s, and TV screens that we don’t bother to exercise our bodies anymore. As for our healthy diets, well we’ve changed them to greasy fast foods because they’re cheap, delicious, and easily accessible to us. For many hard working people who spend up to eight hours or more at work, they focus so much on their desk paper work that they forget about their own health. That’s the daily life for many Americans; they sit for eight hours straight working, then head home, stop by a fast food place, and go home only to sit, watch TV and finally sleep. As you can see, not much exercise is being practiced to help their obese situation. At this pace we can only expect greater health risks, and shorter life spans for the upcoming
Technology affects a person’s physical health by causing obesity, head and neck pain, addiction and violence. Obesity in America is not a new thing, but technology is helping it become more common. People are spending more and more time on watching television and playing on devices that they are not exercising and are likely eating unhealthy foods, which is causing increased weight. According to a study taken place at NC State University, 47 out of 100 children will be obese by the time they reach adulthood; This generation could live shorter lives than their parents “despite all medical advances.” Being on a device all the time will not only cause obesity, but neck and head pain. Constantly looking down at a device will cause the neck to be
...this dependent and addicted to technology can be very bad for us due to how clueless and lost we would be if it all stopped working or if it disappeared. We need to understand the difference between what’s truly helping us and what’s really hurting us in the long run when it comes to technology.
" (Berg et al.) Actually, The United States become more modernized and industrial, and the pace of life sped up. Moreover, the huge quantity of people contribute working day, so they do not have much time to spend for their cooking at home. They totally depend on convenience food and fast food restaurant in order to save time for their families and their activities. There are many risings in overweight and obesity because they are relying on processed, convenient, and calorie-dense, saturated-fat-laden fast foods. Besides, societal changes such as women entering the workforce in large numbers, so more meals are eaten in restaurants instead of at home kitchen. Indeed, many women go out for working, so they do not have time to prepare food. In addition, the development of technology, there are more entertainment channels in television and video game viewing patterns, so people spend more time on these entertainments. As a result, less exercise, more eating convenience food, and too much entertainments are all serious problem that cause the high risk of people lives nowadays.
Technology is unavoidable in our modern lifestyle. You wake up, you use technology; you use technology while cooking, while eating, while driving. While you’re lying in bed before you fall asleep, you use technology, technology wakes you up in the morning. Is all the technology around you good for you, or is it harmful to your health? Was our society healthier or safer before all the advancements? So many questions and concerns about all of the technology we crave, but there are very few people who know the answers. Technology affects all parts of human life. It can create jobs, motivate people to get active, and assist people in learning, but this does not balance out that there are dangers that follow the use of technology.
Technology, which is developing rapidly on a daily basis, is aimed to ease people's lives by providing passive shortcuts, causing them to become lazy4. This action results in shortage of movement and exercise. Therefore, technology causes obesity indirectly5.
Society has been impacted both negatively and positively by technology. As a result, every aspect of our lives has been influenced by technology. Hence, life is easier, yet it has taken away some of the enjoyment. For example, remember the days of less stress and more personal interaction, when there were no online messages, no emails, social media or cell phones. We have become excessively dependent on technology. As a result, we need to rely less on technology even though it has made learning fun, and business, daily tasks, work, travel, shopping, making new friends and staying in touch easier. In conclusion, technology has a lot of benefits, yet it could take over our lives and become our worst enemy if we aren't careful.
Technology is making our life easier than before, but are we getting too much dependent on it? Technology is getting improved by past decades. It has become a part and parcel in everyday life. Without it, people would have a lot of trouble to keep pace with the whole world. At the same time, todays new generations incredibly dependent on it. They do not want to use their brain as there are lots of search engines they can easily access and can find out what they want. Technology creates problems about pollution and global warming and at the same time people are using technology to reduce these problems. Overdependence on technology is harmful for humans’ existence because it creates addiction that makes people inactive, decrease job opportunities and causes physical or mental disorders that is a great threat for mans’ life.
Technology has its advantages as well as its disadvantages, some of the advantages are that it makes connecting to people much easier, simpler and in addition, it makes our everyday life simpler in ways people 50 years ago never imagined it would. Not only that, it makes life much more fun and convenient. Now, tackling disadvantages, technology has led us humans into creating weapons of mass destruction and turned us into mindless irresponsible creatures who depend on machines to build everything and get everything for us, forgetting the consequences of health issues such that affect us personally and the ecosystem as a whole. Like everything out there, needless to say, technology has advantages and disadvantages, and we shouldn't forget that the advantages overshadow the disadvantages. Let us not forget that it helped us know achieve and made cultural interactions much easier.
