The Importance Of Technology In Education

Because society rewards people with higher paying jobs that requires higher degrees of education, technology does not outsource teachers. The reason technology cannot efficiently teach students on a large scale is because humans rely on physical interaction so that they can be capable of learning from each other. Most teachers began their professions as students who must pay attention to human behavior and communication most of the time. Although a computer program can instruct students tirelessly, teachers who frequently observe and receive feedback can create different approaches to improve their students’ learning inside or outside the classroom (Angelo, Cross 1993). Yet, if the profession of teaching becomes automated, students …show more content…

If students felt as though they are in a need of assistance, then a teacher would attempt to create methods in which he or she can be able to have their classroom result in active participation and critical thinking. At the same time, several motives implemented to a student’s success can be shown through Robert Rosenthal’s research in 1974 on low and high expectations of teachers (Stipek 2010). The study concluded that students “can actually cause their expectations to be fulfilled” depending on their instructor’s behavior and close relationship with them such as developing “the sense of security” needed within the learning environment (Stipek 2010). Nevertheless, students in general can learn at an effective pace if their teacher can perform individual tasks that involve the student’s growth inside and outside of the …show more content…

Michael Morella in his article on technology saving education explained how from massive open online courses students can “get a master’s degree that’s as good as any Georgia Tech degree, and it costs [about] $7,000”. Thus, students can receive a degree from their own household only for the cost of signing up for that course rather than paying for a full-time or part-time tuition only to waste it in the future. However, using technology as a type of teaching might be put on hold mainly because of how worried teachers and parents are when they see children accessing any form of media for learning. Several scholars who research on the role of technology in society have shown no recent long-term studies of improvement regarding the attention span of students (Ritchel 2012). Because of the small impact that technology have on teaching students, the idea of designing programs to instruct children nationwide is the efficient enough until studies can prove that they can both cut down on costs and increase learning capabilities more than a
