Technology Selection and Instruction Design Models
The analysis will include a four-step model which summarizes the main steps in existing well established models to guide the process of selecting media and technology for the delivery of distance education courses (Moore and Kearsley, 2012, p. 89).
1. Identify the media attributes required by the instructional objectives or learning objectives.
2. Identify the student characteristics that suggest or preclude certain media.
3. Identify the characteristics of the learning environment that favor or preclude certain media.
4. Identify the economic or organizational factors that may affect the feasibility of certain media.
However, Davis (2008) reminds us that teaching and learning systems including online learning systems should be constructed from two foundations: students’ needs, and learning outcomes of the course or program (p.123). Moreover, good course design (clear objectives, well-structured learning materials, and good graphics) is likely to be more influential on learning outcomes than the choice of media i.e. a LMS.
E-Learning
The World Wide Web/Internet enables organizations like DHPE to communicate with its members independent of place and time with some type of device such a computer, mobile phone and internet connection. DHPE has used the internet to host meetings, webinars and share news and information as well as document sharing through its website. DHPE has also hosted educational webinars for its members and non-members for a picayune amount. Conversely, DHPE’s training program has only relied on the internet to allow training participants to access electronic copies documents such as some of the handouts and worksheets reviewed during the face to face courses....

In today's world, technology is constantly changing from a new paperclip to an improvement in hospital machinery. Technology lets people improve the way they live so that they can preserve their own personal energy and focus on the really important factors in life. Some people focus their energy on making new innovations to improve transportation and the health of people that may save lives and some people focus on making new designs of packaging CDS. Technology is significant in everyone's life because it rapidly changes what is in the market. But, some new innovations of technology are ridiculous because they serve no purpose in helping mankind.
Technology has affected everyone’s life so people are now more reliable on technology for different purposes i.e. teacher and student communicate online with each other which is enhanced as distance education (on-line ...
Technology has had negative affects on people and their everyday lives. People have become much more lazy with the enhancements of technology all around the globe. It has made people much too reliant on connections with other men and women by having a constant connection to them and their phones. But even though having a constant connection with someone through cell phones and social media may seem that we are more social than we have been in the past, we are slowly becoming more distant from human interactions. Technology has made people so very much dependent on modern technology in their everyday lives and would have problems functioning without it. The negative affects of technology are significantly more than the positive outcomes and is deteriorating the human races progress in advancement. Causing generations of children growing up and being stunted in intellectual growth because of their dependence on technology. In such historical advancements in technology, one would like to believe that we are indeed going forward but we in fact are going in reverse.
In conclusion, the instructional design and the systematic design process have enabled people who are away from information to access it through the internet in the virtual drives. These ability to learn from a distance commonly known as electronic learning has enabled a huge number of individuals to gain great knowledge that they would otherwise have not achieved. The instructional design and systematic design have made the access of information easier for everybody who has access to tools that help the access the internet.
Instructional Design is a systematic approach to design, evaluation and management of instruction. It helps to facilitate learning in an effort to improve. There are many models that have been developed to assist in the design of instructional materials. This paper will compare three: ADDIE, ASSURE and Kemp with a focus on online learning.
The pen was once said to be mightier than the sword. Writing letters, books, and poetry by hand was the sign of a scholar. However over time the pen became weak and typewriters ushered in the new theory that speed is better than quality. With the invention of computer programs such as spell check, audio books, and even texting humankinds’ knowledge of language has suffered. Spell check has decreased peoples understanding of spelling and grammar. In past years schools made a point to teach grammar and spelling but having essays and papers written out by hand but in modern times schools lean towards typing up paper on computers and using spell check to fix any problems causing concern among parents and teachers. With the invention of the typewriter it became not how well an individual could write but how fast one could type. This was one of the first steps in a society that didn’t care about the quality of writing but how fast it could be done. Now in modern times with the advancements in computers knowing proper spelling and grammar of one’s own language have become very poor. It has become accepted and even taught that it is fine to have poor grammar and spelling as long as one can type fast. By simply click on one icon that says “spell check” on any typing/writing device all ones grammar and spelling errors will be fixed without having to know why it was wrong in the first place. “When being a student in grade school as well as in high school (1934-1946), grammar was heavily emphasized in English/language arts classes, particularly in grades four through the senior year in high school” (Marlow pg1). Grammar and proper spelling was once taught greatly in schools but as typing became a new staple in schools way of teaching writing ...
Technology is constantly advancing in the world. With the constant usage of it everything we do changes in the world. Shifting up the games of society, making its labors and other work easier than ever. Transforming the ways of information sharing, conversation, and interaction in general. Various technologies are now a big part of most of the people of the world’s everyday lives and are incredibly supportive to the general public and government alike. They are extremely advantageous due to the constant upgrading of the various tools they provide us with everyday. Some feel the human race has lost a certain survival instinct, or organic strength due to our new pushes in technology, but one could argue that they actually strengthen the masses making people using this equipment more knowledgeable than ever before. The proof is witnessed by multiple people every day with the growing application of the many tools given to them. The surge in know-how shows.

To build an online course there must be a process; this process needs to incorporate the methods of instructional design and applying these components into an online format. The overall end result is that the student learning outcomes are developed into instructional activities used for learning. Key decisions were made into developing the online design. Part of the process included documentation as to the online design, methods for interactivity, number of contacts with the faculty-member, and methods for online assessment and evaluation. One thing that was important to realize was that developing an online courses was different than developing a traditional face-to-face course. An article written by Nanette Johnson-Curiskis, a faculty member from Minnesota State University has provided some additional cons...
Today’s generation is like no other. The nation as a whole has completely evolved from past times, with technology being one of the greatest improvements. Traditionally, schooling takes place in a classroom setting, but, with the many modifications in our world’s system, we are able to assimilate more modern means of education, such as online learning. However, with many changes comes differences and requires adjustments. The online learning system has proven to be just as effective as traditional learning, with some minor differences, however, nothing of great significance. A few of those insignificant differences include online learning being convenient, especially for the non-traditional students,
His final suggestion to teachers is to, “fully reconsider their students’ specific needs and redesign their online courses and learning activities to involve their students.help them benefit from the online learning environment.” Works Cited Chia-Wen, T. (2013).
The implementation of online learning in many universities has proven to be a successful method of course delivery (Regan, Evmenova, Baker, Jerome, Spencer, Lawson, & Werner, 2012). Dickson-Dean, Galyen, and Moore (2011) proposed that online learning can promote successful learning opportunities for students as well as rewarding benefits for all educational stakeholders. Factors that contribute to the success of online learning include, but are not limited to, flexibility and accessibility, cost reduction, increased retention, and varied learning opportunities (Neely & Tucker, 2010). Online learning and associated technology is becoming increasingly adaptable and can be used to meet the educational needs of all students while providing opportunities for differentiated instruction (Krishnakumar & Kumar, 2011). Online learning provides both students and instructors with opportun...
Abstract: Recently, there has been a rush to create web-based instructional courses. The approach that is being taken to create web-based courses is to create websites that will function as the central distributors of information and materials. Based on the format and content of the course, the student is to go through lesson by lesson to complete courses. In this paper, I address some of the problems inherent in this approach, especially with respect to 18-22 year-old undergraduate education.
