Our current era is known as the age of technological revolution. The last decade of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty first century witnessed a tremendous progress in the field of information technology. Modern technology has transformed the world into a little global village. This development is reflected in numerous areas, but the area in which it benefited greatly is education and the era of distance learning has begun. As a result of this revolution in the methods and techniques of education, which provided the means to help provide scientific material to students in an easy, fast and clear originated various forms of online learning to suit the needs of learners and helped overcome obstacles for some students such as working individuals and military personnel. People engaged in curriculum development are well aware that it is an ongoing process. Information technology and expanded use of information and communication technology during the past three decades rapidly extended to all aspects of life and the development of curricula is one of those areas touched by this information revolution. Curriculums were reconsidered to keep up with the pace for the modern requirements of the information society as part of the process of the integration of technology in the academic teaching. In light of this new role of technology, teachers will be able to use the Internet and the multimedia to deliver the content of the curriculum for students. Teachers can connect with their students virtually and without any restrictions unlike traditional schooling (Terry, M, & John, C., 2010). With the boom of social media, and the enormous development in making educational materials available on the Internet, it has become very easy to find any study or educational materials online. After the previous generations spent enormous efforts searching for information between the shelves of libraries, it has now become a click away for the new generation.
Finally, what we can say is that technology has changed today’s education like everything else, it has quite a lot of contemporary features and it also has some flaws. But it is certain that the emergence of technology assisted education, such as online learning, will open up the field more for the humanity to evolve, converge and progress, thus providing a large number of students with the benefits of technology in the field of education they could not never get it by conventional means.
