Teaching and Education Philosophy
My philosophy is that an educator is the most valuable resource our country has. Of all the jobs or careers in this world none of them would be possible without teachers. There are two main points to my philosophy, why teachers are important and who teachers are. Hopefully reading my philosophy will give you a better understanding of the importance of educators in this world.
Teachers are very important in our society because we need them to provide our youth with the knowledge and social experiences they will need to improve their future and the future of the entire planet. As a teacher I hope to be able influence many lives and help students understand what education can do for them and their future. I can recall only one teacher from high school who actually talked about college and what we would need to do to be better prepared for college. Dr. Lawrence was my eleventh grade chemistry teacher. He had been a college professor at George Mason University for around 30 years before he decided to teach at my school. He brought a college like atmosphere into our classroom, which helped us, prepare for the way things would be in college. This is just a small example of what teachers are for, to educate students on more than just books or academics but on life. Teachers are more than just people who relay information about a certain subject.
Who teachers are, they are anyone and everyone. Teachers are grandmothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. For anything to be learned it must be taught. I remember many times my mom and dad sitting me down to talk about some situations that might come about and telling me ways to deal with them. Classroom teachers especially in the early years are the people that those students will see most throughout the course of the day and will learn
The movie "October Sky" gives a very positive representation of a teacher. She is a role model, a friend, a source of information, a defender, and a fighter. She is portrayed as compassionate, understanding, and very beneficial in keeping the students directed toward their goals. This would seem to say that teachers need these qualities in order to fully relate to their students. A teacher can not only be there for informational needs, but must also stand behind her students and be prepared to defend their rights to discover themselves.
Teachers help students meet the purpose of life needs by teaching them the things they need to know to be successful adults. Teachers do not teach just the basic core subjects, but they teach children how to be responsible and respectful. They teach them the things they need to know to be good citizens in society.
Why is education such an essential part of our culture? We, as a society, are extremely materialistic and view education as a ladder to a higher socio-economic plateau, which consists of better job opportunities and a better lifestyle. Education is at the core every career imaginable and, regardless of technological advances, there will always be a need for teachers. Teachers touch lives every day. I am becoming an educator because I feel that I can positively influence the lives of others. I am confident in my ability to interact with others as I look forward to improving students’ lives through education.
Personally, being an educator gives me a chance to have a great impact on the world. I have always enjoyed seeing the look on someone’s face when they make a new connection or learn something. I have many strong beliefs in the education process and many times feel that the needs of the student are overlooked. As a teacher, the students would be priority and that is the backbone of my teaching philosophy. I know that I am not very experienced and have much to learn. This I will strive to do throughout my education and even when I enter the teacher workforce.
I firmly believe that every educator can make an impact in students’ lives. Every student should be allowed to receive the best educational experience. Children from all ages need our most critical attention and we must help build strong foundations in our students’ lives. I believe that every human being is constantly learning, everyone including the teachers. Although Educators may be given the title of “Teacher” and is respected as such, I believe we should be seen as students as well. Teachers learn from their students every day. Students not only learn from the Teachers but also amongst themselves. I strongly believe that a friendly environment where everyone in the room gets a voice, and learn from each other is a great classroom.
Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
Teachers are the gatekeepers of the classroom. They control who gets attention, who gets what services and accolades, and who stays and who gets expelled. Teachers have the power to inspire their students or discourage them. Truly they play an important role in shaping the students' beliefs about the academic process and their prospects.
I believe to teach is to make a difference in the world. As an Early Childhood Educator, I can be certain that anything taught and beneficial to young students can pave the way for them to a have colorful future that will help improve the future of humanity and the earth in the long run. Obviously, teachers play a huge role in their students’ education but I believe the students themselves play an even bigger role as they are the driving force of what they learn.
I believe educators are one of the most important careers out there, without them where would we be today? Would you be reading this paper? Would you still be able to read, write, or have an educated conversation? Would you know how to pay for things at the grocery store, and know if you’re receiving the correct change back? Would you know how to tell time, so you can manage your day? When I look back to my young developing stages in life, I always ask myself where would I be today if it wasn’t for my teachers? Teachers are the ones who are building our future generations. Preparing children and teens for higher education. Also playing a huge part in shaping children’s lives, enlightening them, and educating them about society and the world around them; the types of things that a parent doesn’t have time for, or just lacks the knowledge of. I think teachers are what help make this world go round. We simply go to school to learn, and get educated, so that someday we can get a job, or start a business to supply for our families and our self. How would we acq...
As we reminisce and reflect back either on our childhood or academic career, we tend to have that one teacher who was memorable to us in some way - for their sense of humor, their stellar personality, or perhaps having that charisma and charm no other teacher had to make a difficult subject and it 's concepts fun to learn. While knowledge is power, I firmly believe that it is rather the exchange and distribution of knowledge that is power. When one can educate the masses there is no doubt that together we can accomplish great things. Becoming a teacher would mean the opportunity to be able to witness the shaping and molding of the minds of the future generations and the satisfaction knowing that you have helped your students set themselves onto the right path and provide guidance towards the creation of a better tomorrow. Choosing to become a teacher will allow me not only to educate my students, but also educate myself to be a better teacher throughout my career. I believe it is a function of human nature to want to change the world for the better. In adulthood, I have learned that the improvement of the welfare of the world must begin with
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
I believe teachers should serve as role models and be the center of a classroom. In order to maintain that students stay on task and are all on the same page, the teacher needs to serve as a guide and direct the students. I do not believe that students learn best in a textbook based setting, but that textbooks are important when referencing material. I believe all students learn differently and look for new ideas or ways to teach lessons and concepts, so that my students can learn as effectively as possible. I also believe that a teacher teaches much more than the subject. It is very important for students in my classroom to something other than the subject that I teach. I want them to learn life skills that will help them in more areas and aspects of their life other than education. I believe my students should strive for hard work, dedication, and integrity, and go beyond learning just the content of a
Teachers are important to society for many reasons. Their objective is to help students accomplish educational goals, learn to the best of their ability and help them grow. If they achieve this then the student passes a class and or eventually graduates. Without teachers, students would not be able to get a major leaving a major setback in society. Often, teachers put a lot of time into their lesson plans while trying to think of creative ways to make the lessons exciting for their students in the classroom.
I believe that teaching is the most important job known to humanity. In fact, I do not believe it is a job, but rather, a debt payment to society. Education is important because it not only opens doors to a better life, but it also insures one a happier life. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It makes us capable of interpreting rightly the things perceived. Without education, we as a whole, would be further behind in the world and would not have as much technology as we do now. Education also equips us with all that is needed to make our dreams come true. It is because of education that we have the comfortable living style that we have today. For those who are troubled, education acts as an outlet to success. It is education that builds in every individual a confidence to make decisions, to face life, and to accept successes and failures. It instills a sense of pride about the knowledge one has and prepares him/her for life.
Good teachers set high expectations and motivate the students to meet those expectations. As students strive for excellence, teachers assist students in meeting their highest potential through daily lessons. Teachers also serve as role models. Teachers make a contribution to society by preparing students for their real world endeavors. They teach students through example to be kind, respectful, humble, patient and determined.”
