It also states that inclusion and support of parents and the connections with the community is important to the children’s learning process. Moreover Te Whᾱriki states that “Parents and caregivers have a wealth of valuable information and understandings regarding their children” (30). Thirdly both approach focus on educators to provide encouragement, warmth, and acceptance. They also provide challenges for creative and complex learning and thinking, helping children to extend their ideas and actions through sensitive, informed, well-judged interventions and support. Te Whᾱriki principles points out “children learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships with people, places and things” (p. 14).
My educational philosophy about students comes from the perspective that each child is unique and childhood is a valuable stage of development. I believe that all children can learn and it is my job to help them to grow to their fullest potential. I believe that when working with children it is important to have full knowledge of child growth and development. I also believe that children are understood and supported in their development within the context of family, culture and society. NAEYC standards 7.A states that teachers “Know and understand the program families.” For this reason I believe in getting to know each child and their family.
With trust and confidence with and in their teacher’s children feel a sense of safety which allows them to be able to engage in learning to their fullest ability. Arthur, Beecher, Dealth, Dockett and Farmer (2007) and Patel, Corter and Pelletier (2008) agree with Porter and add that parents and whānau often have different values and expectations and that partnerships enable all involved to promote the sharing of information to enhance the children’s learning (Patel, C... ... middle of paper ... ... the child’s learning. Educator should endeavour to ensure that the families’ culture is included in the centre or school. Studies have shown us that by included families into centres or schools children’s social and emotional development benefits greatly. Families often experience multiple stress in their life’s these stress can often affect their child’s learning and educators need to be sensitive to family situations.
the characteristics of an ideal early childhood classroom is to set goals and meet the developmental needs of each child by promoting quality care according to NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Education. One more characteristic is to stimulate children with choices of materials, learning and welcoming environment, engagement activities, good relationship with peers and teachers, and enhance children’s learning and development. I have many reasons I want to become an early childhood teacher.one of them, is that I think that the early childhood education is fundamental to build up the base for children’s future formation. It is the foundation for the new generations and their future. From my experience I recognize that teaching children is unique and therefore it is necessary that as teachers we should be flexible and provide opportunities for them to expand their skills, and interests, about themselves and their future.
As stated by Theodore Michael Christou, progressivism is, “populated by hybrid discourses, constellated and interacting in multiple spaces” (Christou 2012, 279). To me, this perfectly sums up how the progressive philosophy of teaching combines multiple perspectives in order to make sure that children learn in the best way possible for their own learning style. Children are able to learn real world concepts and also through this educational philosophy, are able to focus on developing
In order to become a remarkable teacher, there must be dedication to many things, one of them being passionate about how children learn. Theories are one of the determining things that influence teachers and how they approach teaching. A theory is a set of explanations used to explain how children learn (Morrison, 2009, p.113). Theorists and theories are important for many reasons: 1) theories help us understand how children learn, which helps us teach better; 2) understanding theories and how children learn helps teachers communicate better with parents / caregivers; 3) theories help teachers have a basis of how children learn which helps in evaluation of them; 4) theories help guide program development to enhance children’s learning (Morrison, 2009, p. 114). Theories not only help support teaching, they help guide teachers to become better at what they do.
Mindful and Reflective Practice The information presented during this course has increase my knowledge and experience about my role as an early childhood educator. The resources presented helped me to learn ways to promote healthy development and well-being of all children and how to be an advocate for them. I believe this class enriched my knowledge about infant-toddler care and education to the point that I would most like to express to others its importance. One thing that I would like to share is that infant–toddler care and education is crucial for physical and cognitive development. The caregiver/parent interaction is necessary for the children to keep alive the desire for communication and learning.
This presentation would be to my colleagues who are dealing with children in the Educational field. It is better to be done at the beginning of the educational year. This is considered to be a good opportunity for all the teachers and assistants to feel the sense of enthusiasm at the beginning of the year. Besides, they will have the chance to advocate the UNCRC during the year to the children and their families. I prefer to hold my presentation physically at school (their work placement) for two reasons.
There are workshops and training to help families get involved. The key is to offer incentives to the training to help increase the parent’s attendance, Communication is the one key with the parents. In today’s socially they are many ways to stay in contact with parents because of technology by email, text, or social media. Invite parent to come to the classroom and volunteer and see firsthand what a day look like for their child in the classroom. Have different events that will increase parents interest and eventually great participation.
As mentioned previously children learn by observation, so when educators display these dispositions they help promote children 's own development of them. The EYLF also helps to show the importance of teachers possessing positive dispositions. Within the document the outcomes are broken down to show how they are evident in children and how educators can promote the their development, through out the suggested strategies for educators it expresses an importance in them role modelling and exposing the children to the skills they need to develop. Educators are asked to display “delight, encouragement and enthusiasm for children’s attempts... model care, empathy and respect...” (DEEWR
