This article is about the new type of bullying, where the teacher bullies the student. According to this resource teacher student bullying is a surprisingly common occurrence. In most schools there are kids who are troublemakers or “’At risk.’” Teachers often have a hard time dealing with such kids according to this ABC investigation, teachers often use tactics that do not help, are generally accepted, and similar to the tactics used by school bullies themselves. The reason says ABC is that teachers were good students and so do not understand why the trouble makers do such things, second never knew any other tactic, and third have incorrect knowledge concerning how it would affect the students. This article is making quite a big statement but this is by a well-known and credible news source, and pieces of it were already common knowledge. However one may still question its validity if not for its great detail into the mind of a teacher. The bullying from teachers, at least to Dolak, Kevin and Alyssa, is that teachers are role models, but are comfortable in that position. They usually do not do this consciously; they simply have an automatic response to disruption, or have labeled it differently. This does explain why this problem gets so little attention. However how in depth they delve into the mindsets of teachers, which they do near flawlessly, they fail to bring up actual evidence or examples. The concerned parent talked to the teacher and principal and both told her that the student had inattentiveness in the classes. Now very worried the mother took her son to a university to have him examined for any condition. The experts came up empty. The mother withdrew the child from school and found out that the teacher regularly verbally assaulted her son. The article takes an abrupt turn and discusses the how to deal with the issue. One way is to hear other stories to see if what is happening is an actual situation. Another thing to do is document everything that happens. Then complain professionally. Make sure to complain in turn from those with smaller authority to the superintendent. The most important help those who are bullied because they are the most vulnerable.
Most acts of bullying are dealt with, but not always in the correct way of doing so. Bullying Policies in many schools state that bullying is not tolerated and has consequences that will be used if bullying occurs. However, Jodi draws our attention to the issue that not all schools have a policy that states the consequences of bullying and practically just tells the victim to fight back and stand up for himself. This generally makes things worse for the victim by allowing the bully think that the victim is trying to "embarrass" the bully. With repeated attacks on one, it will have him/her believe they are either "useless" or think that they have to do something to prevent the next attacks, and this may not always be pretty or the "right" way. Not only is it already hard to be a teenager, but having to deal with constant teasing and harassment is just something no one needs. There is a point in life where bullying can become so terrifying that students will rather stay at home than have to face their bully. Darnell “Dynasty” Young is a 17 year old gay teen who has gone through every possible way to stop his bullies from harassing him. His mother has tried everything but hasn’t been able to put a stop to it. Until one day, Young’s mother bought Darnell a stun gun. His mother told him to bring it to school and when the bullies began to torment him to take it out. He did just that, he did not actually shoot anyone he just waved it up in the air to intimidate his bullies. He not only got suspended but he also got arrested, yet the six boys teasing him and calling him names received no punishment whatsoever. (CNN) Young is one of the many kids that go through this type of abuse in a place where they should feel safe. This is an example of the school failing to do anything to prevent this kind of behavior, even after the parents try to intervene. This is also a great example of parents failing to implement high behavior standards by enforcing them to retaliate. Parents should be there to advice a peaceful way of resolving this in a non violent way not give them the weapon. By implementing prevention programs such as activities that help fight bullying can ultimately lead to the end of this horrific thing some kids face each day.

Schools want to violate your civil rights! Cyber bullying has been getting much attention recently and schools are being criticized for not taking action. There are three main reasons why schools should not limit students’ online speech: it violates our civil rights, it is exaggerated in size, it may result in more face-to-face bullying.
Bullying has been a part of schooling for as long as children have been congregating. To some it seems like a natural, though uncomfortable, part of life and school experience, while to others it can mean terrifying experiences which spoiled and characterized otherwise happy years in school. Dan Olweus, a pioneer in bully behavior research documented that 2.7 million children are affected as victims, and that 2.1 children act as bullies (Fried, 1997, as cited in Aluedse, 2006). With bullying cited as the reason for violent, gun-related crime in the past few years, school districts as well as national governments have put anti-bullying policies in place. Bullying is a complicated phenomenon, involving more than one child demanding lunch money from a smaller child. It is a worldwide epidemic hitting schools everywhere. Virtually everyone has seen or experienced bullying. With technological advances, bullying is even hitting the internet. Parents, teachers, students and governments agencies alike are attempting to put a stop to bullying practices.

“Many adolescents are taught not to discriminate or intimidate. However, bullying has increased dramatically in the present era. Victims are left physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally broken. Also, many children are taking their lives due to not being able to handle the misery from bullying. As a result of these incidents, he or she are left wondering who is at fault, the child or the parents. Therefore, should parents be held accountable for the outcome of their children’s bullying? Parents should be held accountable if their child is a bully. When an adult decides to be a parent, they become responsible for whatever mistakes their child may do, until the child becomes an adult. Therefore, it is up to the parent to know what their child is doing at all times. The parent should show their child right from wrong, and as parents, he or she must remember, children repeat what one may say and do. If parents do not provide their child with these resources, they should be fined or even put in jail. Also, their should be a law passed that requires parents, to go to a parent-child orientation, which will provide parents with resources on how to deal with bullying.
Some of the reasons why some teachers model the aggressive behavior they experience at home, might be due to education levels and years of teaching experience. In some states, when teacher are tenure, they cannot or hardly be fired. Three articles (See Table 8) directly tested the assumption that education and/or experience were related to bullying behavior. Zerillo (2011) performed a two-part study to see how teacher education and experience affected the way teacher perceived bullying behavior. In the first part, teachers were asked to answer a survey about the teacher perception about peer-to-peer bullying and teacher to student bullying (quantitative data). On the second part, two focus groups were made to discuss the same issues (qualitative data).
... Each school needs to evaluate how their potential risk and which measures to take to ensure the safety of students and staff. In addition, some schools have speakers come in and tell their story about what happened to them and how it has affected their lives. Some students may relate to a story and in turn can have a huge impact on their emotions as well as their behavior. In the end school bullying has been around for centuries and will continue for many more years, but prevention and awareness are key to reducing the problem with school bullying.
Bullying and sexual harassment perhaps do not immediately come to mind when discussing school violence, however they are two of the most widespread and pervasive issues facing schools today. While the word “bully” brings to mind a harmless school age right of passage to many, research today shows that bullies often times have a number of family or social problems. Also, in today’s modern world, bullies may not merely shake down classmates for lunch money; they have found ways to hound their victims long after they have left the school grounds by using the internet. Another form of bullying is sexual harassment, which is bullying based on the person’s gender or sexual preferences. Sexual harassment is a very damaging problem, especially to school age child who have yet to develop a strong sexual identity of their own. While sexual harassment is generally considered to be aimed from a male to a female, both males and females are victims and perpetrators of this destructive act. For people who are not knowledgeable on the subject of school violence, they may be confused on where the line has been crossed and dangerous behavior begins, nevertheless, there is clear data on who is a bully, what behavior is characterized by a bully, who are victims of bullies, what sexual harassment is, and who is affected by sexual harassment.
“Researchers have conducted that at least 25% of all children will be affected by bullying at some point during their school years, and many of these children miss significant numbers of school days each year owing to fear of being bullied” (Bray, M., Kehle, T., Sassu, K. (2003). Bullying has become a major problem for our students and our schools. Children are missing educational time and are losing self-confidence because they are afraid or intimidated by other students. We, as teachers, need to reduce bullying in our schools and prevent bullying from being a reoccurring issue in the lives of our students in order for them to learn, grow and develop. Our goal as teachers should be “to reduce as much as possible-ideally to eliminate completely- existing bully/victim problems in and out of the school setting and to prevent the development of new problems” (Olweus, D. (1993).
“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” These words have been repeated countless times, but they are not accurate. In truth, words can kill. Bullying has become a highlighted problem within our society, and bullying in the school systems is even more prominent. According to the news, there are countless cases of bullying, many of which do not have happy endings. The rates of suicide due to bullying are currently higher than they have ever been before. Suicide is the third top causes of death in young people within the United States, averaging at 4,400 deaths a year, with over 50% of these deaths as a result of some sort of bullying. Studies also show that there are 100 suicide attempts for every one successful suicide performed (“Bullying and Suicide”). These numbers are disturbingly high. Bullying is affecting more kids in ways that some adults may never understand. The fact that words and actions can lead to cutting and suicides is still a distant concept to some and needs to be brought to immediate attention. Laws are now being put into place to prevent these tragedies, but what is really being done to prevent them within the schools or even within the students’ homes? There is a lot of finger pointing when it comes to this topic. But we all want to know what the cause is behind this nationwide crisis and who is responsible for it.
As a society, we often underestimate the damages that bullying cause on children, not just America but all over, and the ones who suffer are the victims themselves. Victims are damaged with the stigma that they are weak, yet somehow have to fend for themselves against something that they have little to no control over. Whether it is for funding, a reputation or any other reason schools sweep their bullying problem under the rug or turn a blind eye, however they have more potential to end this growing issue. To the schools that think bullying is not their problem, they should know that according to heyugly.org, an anti-bullying campaign, “Approximately, 160,000 children a day stay home from school in fear of being bullied.”They also point out
Bullying does not have a standard definition. Bullying can be anything from calling someone else names, beating them up just for the fun of it, to texting or messaging them on the internet or any mobile device. Any person can be the victim of bullying, not just children. Bullying causes many issues, physically, emotionally, and mentally, not only for the victim, but for their entire families as well. Bullies have many different reasons as to why they start bullying someone else. The actions done to the victim leaves them with only a few options on how to stop being bullied. How they handle it is always different.
Both the student and the school consider bullying as one of the major problems that should be dealt with. It randomly chooses people and it happens in every department. This will greatly affect the performance of the student not only toward education but also in other aspects. This leads to a poor grade in academics, loss of self-esteem, bad social life, depression, and could lead to death.
