Summary: Poonam, you had a good first 6 months at Target, where you were able to ramp up on Target Technology ecosystem and complete few key deliverables related to the Stores Inventory Management Centralization initiative. Your primary contribution was towards developing API endpoints to get and update the Inventory information in the stores database. To achieve this goal, you worked across multiple teams to find out the patterns and best practices for API development and deployment. Since this was unchartered territory for most of Store Replenishment group, there was little bit of churn in getting the correct direction and standards. While there was some churn on setting development patterns and standards, you have driven forward and made good progress. You has shown right kind of Target behaviors which has set you up very well to implement critical application this year. As you go into 2017, you should build on your Technical Acumen and Software development practices to play a pivotal role in Tech modernization initiative. Strengths – Be Curious – As with any new endeavor, you had to learn a lot of new Technologies and processes in your first 6months. Being curious to learn the new stuff has helped you. This your strongest point. There are 2 parts of being curious. 1) be curious to learn new tools and technologies 2) be curious to question and challenge the status quo. Since you were new to the team, you did most to learn the new stuff. I am really looking forward for you to go to the next phase of being able to challenge the status quo in terms of technology and process. Be Accountable – You have shown good accountability of tasks at hand. Although, you had bit of struggle setting the patterns and standards, you stuck to your task and saw it through. There have been more than few instances where you mentioned that you didn’t liked the development process, you didn’t agree with technical direction of the project or a particular TM’s approach. In all these instances, as a Sr.Engineer on the team, you should be able to take corrective actions along with your team. You should be Bold and suggest better ways of running Backlog grooming process. If you have difficulty finding a template or pattern, go ahead setup one and justify it with your peers and leads. Being new to the team might have impacted some of these behaviors, but as the only new Techstack developer on the team, I would have liked you to take more bold steps. For example, in our latest 1:1 conversation, you agreed that the new API deployment process was incorrect.
