INTRODUCTION: This case involves the suspects stealing merchandise from the Target Store in violation of PC 459.5(a)-Shoplifting. LOCATION DESCRIPTION: This incident took place at The Target Store, which is a large business located at 777 E. Colorado Boulevard. LOSS/RECOVERED: • Clothing Loss/Recovered: $99.44 (see attached receipt) INVESTIGATION: On 02-20-17 at 1809 hours, I was dispatched to the Target Store regarding a male being detained by Target Loss Prevention Officers for theft. Cortes exited the dressing room and was seen wearing the Target Store pants. Cortes began walking to the north entrance/exit doors. Cortes walked past the cash registers and out the north doors without paying for the stolen pants. Medina contacted Cortes outside of the store. Cortes was taken into custody by Medina and walked back into the store. Medina retrieved the concealed store merchandise from Cortes. I looked through Cortes wallet and found $1.78 in US Currency. Cortes did not have any credit cards or checks in his possession. Medina gave me a receipt with the stolen merchandise which totaled $99.44. Medina also gave me the video surveillance onto a CD. Medina told me the store is desirous of prosecution. I had Cortes remove the stolen pants and returned them to the store. I took a photograph of the stolen pants, which were later Uploaded into VeriPic (see attached photo). Sergeant Lomeli #5315 was advised and approved the arrest. I handcuffed and arrested Cortes for PC 459.5(a)-Shoplifting. The handcuffs were double locked. I then transported Cortes to the Pasadena City Jail for
