Animal Liberation Why is it that we as a society condemn the actions of a man against a man but very rarely a man against an animal? I think this question must be understood if we are ever to change the rights animals have. As of yet I don't believe animals have any actual rights. Rather humans have rights that involve animals. If we are to truly allow animals to have rights the same or similar to humans then we must first define what it is that makes us feel as if they are entitled to rights.
Humans need to stop thinking about themselves as a superior species to other animals. They have to start thinking about how we can stop the cruelty that they inflict upon animals day after day in experiment after experiment. Tom Regan, a well-known animal rights activist, wrote, "the fundamental wrong is the system that allows us to view animals as our resources, here for us- to be eaten, or surgically manipulated, or exploited for sport or money" (Regan 14). Nothing could be more true than this fact; man considers itself such a superior species that all others were put on earth for his convenience. It is this type of thinking that has gotten humans to the place where we are today.
He also states how he thinks a major way to stop the suffering of animals is to stop the experimenting on animals. He states”...the widespread practice of experimenting on other species in order to see if certain substances are safe for human beings, or to test some psychological theory about the effect of severe punishment or learning...”. When he is talking about the experiments and suffering of animals. He is concerned most with domestic animals, he is not too concerned with the other animals in the word. Views like these make Singer limited.
Animals Rights Is it fair that animals have to go through abuse neglect and torture every day over a simple fact that humans do not believe animals do not have rights? Humans use and kill animals for food or clothing. Because people or humans think of animals as property so they do as they please with animals Some people believe that animals should be treated in the same way humans are and have familiar rights, where others think that it is more important to use them as they desire for food and medical research. This Paper will discuss both points of view. With and explanation of animals, people believe it is acceptable for several reasons.
As the reader, I took this as Kant saying that animals do not think like humans when it comes to repentance and compensation, and humans need to respect animals for their way of thinking and not take advantage of them for their lack of understanding. He then provides a quote from Aristotle, the exact contrast of his first quote that describes nonhumans as nothing but an existence for the good of the man in regard to his needed services and food. He then emphasizes the wild ones to take priorit... ... middle of paper ... ...le in freedom to the human rights system. If only all humans could recognize that we are truly treating animals today like we did in the years of civil rights for African Americans. Forcing animals to live in horrible conditions until they are slaughtered for cheap meat, in my opinion is truly comparable.
While the animal welfare groups believe they should be used humanly. The relationship between man and animal has been debated for years (Bates and Ciment). All animals deserve rights and these rights should eliminate the problems with inhumane captivity, hunting, and animal
Animals have their own rights as do to humans and we should respect that and give them the same respect we give each other. Animals deserve to be given those same basic rights as humans. All humans are considered equal and ethical principles and legal statutes should protect the rights of animals to live according to their own nature and remain free from exploitation. This paper is going to argue that animals deserve to have the same rights as humans and therefore, we don’t have the right to kill or harm them in any way. The premises are the following: animals are living things thus they are valuable sentient beings, animals have feeling just like humans, and animals feel pain therefore animal suffering is wrong.
Through the mistreatment of animals, and to our societies’ view it is take more than one voice and one heart to change their understanding of the animal life. For that very reason there has been a development in organizations like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and people like Dr. Malamud in his interview that are making it known to society that there’s a need of balance within the wildlife and civilization. As humans progress to a better lifestyle requiring materials and time, animals just want to live peacefully without any threats in their habitat, without a fear of mankind. When it comes down to it, animals and human aren’t really that different we both see and hear the same.
We, as humans, depend on animals for many things such as food and clothing, so where and when will this controversy end? There must be a compromise, but it is up to us to find the solution to this overwhelming problem. Animal rights activists contribute to the first position on this issue. They believe that animals sho... ... middle of paper ... ...r the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” It is therefore concluded, from this scripture and research, that animal testing is permissible as long as it is in our best interest and no additional harm is done. Abraham Lincoln summarized my point of view when he said, “I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights.
Are the animal Cruelty laws too strict? They are not in fact, strict enough. If the animal cruelty laws were strict enough, there would not be repeat felons. Also, why should someone be punished less for hurting something that loves them unconditionally? There is no justification for cruelly treating animals.
