Sport Education recreates the meaning behind gym class. Sport Education is physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs. It usually makes the kids want to be competitive with one another and it teaches them the importance of a winner and loser. This type of teaching method helps students learn how to play sports and gets them involved. The earlier you start using this method, the earlier the children learn the basic functions and skills behind activities.

Sports Education is a Physical Education teaching model that aims to put students in a real life game situation. This includes putting students onto teams, giving them the skills they need to participate effectively and to perform to their best personal ability. Overall, Sports Education aims to take students out of physical education class, and put them onto a sports field as part of a team, all striving for one ultimate goal, to win. “A curriculum and instruction model designed to provide authentic, educationally rich sport experiences for girls and boys in the context of school physical education (Siedentop 2002, pg.409).” This quote, taken directly out of the book Quality PE Through Positive Sports Experiences by Daryl Siedentop directly identifies the sole idea of Sports Education. Sports Education is used in schools when children are young, in hope that they will gain a passion towards a certain sport so they will join a team and become more active.
A student that experiences a sports education while get more of an understanding of the sport then someone who just plays the sport. This is because of the students are doing more than just playing the game. They set up the game; referee the game, and attempt to understand how every position is played. The basic soccer fundamentals are a major key to succeeding in the sport. Learning how to receive a ball, or passing and shooting the correct way allows someone to play at a higher level. When reaching that higher level, you need a technique called “deep practice.” Deep practice is learning from the mistakes you make and trying to perfect them. In doing this, you learn the basics easier and better through every step. As a method, one should use deep practice when playing soccer because it will help you learn the game, it will teach you the basics, and it will help you outside of the sport.
The tactical games model is an instructional method for a physical education class, the outline for a tactical game unit is set up as follows. The first step in any Tactical games model is to choose a sport for the class to play, team sports such as basketball or soccer typically work best for this model because they present the players with more tactical situations. Rather than full sized games your class will benefit more from smaller groups and faster paced games, any tactical issues a student is having during the sport will become more apparent this way and therefore easier to address (Pill).
