Occupational Safety and Health Management System Guidelines and ISO/IEC Guide 51:1999 define the hazard as a source or situation with a potential cause of harm in the context of injury and illness to people, damage to property, damage to the workplace environment or its affiliates (Bahari, 2006). According to Health and safety in the office (2004) all organization in Malaysia emphasizes the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001. The act and regulation are established to ensure the health and safety and welfare of workers, self-employed people and visitors to workplaces in NSW. Based on Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employer reported 5.2 million nonfatal workplace injuries. Hazard at work place can be split into three groups such as psychosocial, ergonomics and environment.
TYPES OF HAZARD IN WORK PLACE
The first type of hazard in work place is psychosocial hazard. Psychosocial hazard are defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO, 1986) in terms of the interactions among job content, work organisation and management, and other environmental and organisational conditions, on the one hand, and the employees competencies and needs on the other. There are some linked to psychosocial risks issues such as work-related stress and workplace violence are widely recognised major challenges to occupational health and safety (EU-OSHA, 2007). ... Beside that can be bother the interaction of conservation in workplace. In addition the weather like floods, heat, cold, lightning, and storms give disadvantage toward organization whereas the organization must give holiday to workers if the weather was bad.
In conclusion, there are three major types of hazard in work place that need to be fixed. Some require immediate attention because exposure to them can cause injury to you and fellow workers. Hazards that can hurt you in the long term also need to be identified and reported promptly. The solutions should be sought right away, such as rotating tasks with other workers, but permanent elimination of the hazard may take a little more time to achieve. Once we recognized a hazard, the potential to cause injury and the extent of the hazard is a necessary step in determining how the hazard can be addressed.
