Throat cancer, mostly common in people who use tobacco products, they drink large amounts of alcohol. 7 out of 10 patients diagnosed with throat cancer are smokers and heavy drinkers. Some studies have shown that people who drink and use tobacco are 100 times more at risk than nonsmokers and nondrinkers. Throat cancer at one time was common among men and women over the age of 45, but since the rise in HPV throat cancer has become more common in younger men. Doctors are still unclear for the rising rate in HPV linked cancers; some have said that it’s due to the change in sexual practices, the increase of oral sex. Throat cancer affects about 37,000 people in the United States in 2014, 7300people died in 2014 of throat cancer. 57% will still be alive in 5 years. Over 43,000 will be diagnosed in America with throat cancer. This cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths, about 95% of throat cancer is diagnoses is on people 45 years. Adults younger than 45 are being diagnosed due to HPV. Many of the throat cancer cases are diagnosed in late stages, so the throat cancer has now metastasized to the lungs, so now the patient has throat and lung cancer. People should get routine check-ups from their doctors and go have a dental check-up every 6 months to a year. Common symptoms of throat cancer are: red (erythroplakia) more likely to become malignant, white (leukoplakia) sometime malignant, often become malignant, or mixed both red and white (erythroleukoplakia), malignant means very serious and dangerous : tending or likely to grow and spread in a rapid and uncontrolled way that can cause death. Other symptoms are sore on the lip, bleeding in the mouth,loose teeth, difficulty or pain when swallowing, lump in neck, and ea... ... middle of paper ... ...rt team of doctors and also family. Doctors will help you maintain your medication regimen and help you maintain the effects the side effects. It is very important that you tell your doctor if the medication is no working with the side effects. Having a good family support and friends is very important; cancer is a very scary thing to go through for anyone alone. What I found interesting is it is very important to have dental check-ups and if you are having 2 or more of the symptoms that it is very important to have this checked out early.
