Bullying is a very old concept, one that can be traced back to the sixteenth century, if not earlier. The word bully has changed its meaning multiple times over the years due to growing resurgence to those who bully people who are weaker than them. Due to this more and more people are getting involved in school and communities across the nation to teach kids about how to stop bullying.
Much of the work in tackling bullying is by arguments and disagreements between people about how we should define bullying. If you look in the dictionary you will see bullying is defined as ‘‘Bullying is the wilful, conscious desire to hurt another and put him/her under stress". So basically anyone who wants to hurt someone and knows it is by definition

But then your hear someone ask "Is it bullying when two people of equal strength fight constantly outside the school ?" We may not want fighting in our schools to happen and would want order in the school so this wouldn't happen, however this is not considered bullying. Researchers have suggested that bullying is when someone is stronger or has more power than someone and continues to bully them for a continued amount of time.
There are two other reasons that may help us to identify bullying. One of these focuses on the feelings of the target of aggression.The practical point is that one should always listen first to what the victim has to say. A sense of being oppressed is a necessary but not sufficient indicator of whether bullying is taking place. The second consideration requires that we focus on the bully. Normally one would expect a sense of triumph or pleasure at achieving the desired effect of causing, injury or discomfort. But we also have to take into account whether or not the bully shows remorse for his actions.
Hopefully this essay can help kids and parents who don't know what bullying is and want to know more information about it. I also hope this essay can inspire kids and parents to get involved in the community so we can stop bullying from happening because less bullying means a better world for our children to grow up
Bullying has evolved into a monster with many heads. There are many different types of bullying “traditional bullying is any type of bullying that is carried out through non-electronic means” (Differences between Cyberbullying and Traditional Bullying). Examples of non-electronic bullying are verbal, physical, and social bullying. Traditional bullying is what most parents think of when bullying is proposed. The one question that is usually asked is why? There are many reason why bullying may occur. “Bullies may have underlying psychological factors that contribute to their aggressive behavior or impair their ability to interpret social interactions” (Bullying at School). Bullying can cause another person long or short term problems throughout their whole life. Bullies are also likely to have problems throughout life, such as drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and spouse abuse. Bullying is not only wrong, but inhumane.
In order to properly explain why bullying is an unacceptable hurtful behavior, it must first be explained what exactly bullying is. Most people have a very broad interpretation if bullying. But, what is bullying really? “Bullying is defined as intentional aggressive behavior characterized by an imbalance of strength or power.” A survey done by KidsHealth in 2004 provides that 40 percent of children from ages nine to thirteen admit to being one of these bullies. These are just the children who have the courage to admit they have bullied before.
The current definition of bullying, according to stopbullying.gov, is “unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. Physical bullying does not only affect the victim, but also the bully as well as the people watching. Some criteria of bullying is if it happens repeatedly, and it is clear the bully is in a stronger position than the target. The intent of physical bullying is to hurt or embarrass the victim. Bullying does not have a standard definition. Bullying can be anything from calling someone else names, beating them up just for the fun of it, to texting or messaging them on the internet or any mobile device. Any person can be the victim of bullying, not just children. Bullying causes many issues, physically, emotionally, and mentally, not only for the victim, but for their entire families as well. Bullies have many different reasons as to why they start bullying someone else. The actions done to the victim leaves them with only a few options on how to stop being bullied. How they handle it is always different.

Bullies make small groups so that they can pick on other students who are small, fragile, and who can not defend themselves. Picking on someone should not be accepted because it can affect a person's well being in a drastic way. Bullying is believed to be a normal part of school life.
