Web Design

We have come a really long way since the beginning of time. We are so much more advanced in so many ways; one of our advances is our technological knowledge. Because of this knowledge, we can do so many things such as burn CDs, go to outer space, and cure people from different diseases. One very important technological advance is the Internet. Because of the Internet, people today can do things easily. We can communicate through e-mail or instant messaging or we can search for information online through search engines. These search engines were created through web design. Web design has helped us get to where we are today in technology and economy.

The World Wide Web was created in the early 1980s at CERN, a physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. Tim Berners-Lee, one man who worked at the CERN, originally wanted to find better ways to circulate the scientific documents and other data electronically among the physics research community around the world. After some time, he finally developed the code for a hypertext server program and made it available on the Internet. The code used was Hypertext markup language (HTML). Although the first browser was only useful to view text documents, we are now able to read these HTML documents and view graphics and other platforms as well using today's web browsers such as Netscape Navigator.

Browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer have helped us to view different documents on the web. Most of these documents are in HTML.
