“We need to defend the interests of those whom we've never met and never will.” (Jeffrey D. Sachs). This quote about sustainability means that we should live in order to preserve resources for those in future generations. We will never know these people, but it is still important to maintain a planet for them that is plentiful in resources because the future generations are the basis for the rest of humanity. It is also important that the people of this generation find ways to preserve the resources on the planet to prove a good standing for the society today. Sustainability is important to my education and future as well as for the greater good because it sets the foundation for new generations and maintains a respectable standing for society today.

Bill Strickland spends his days helping people through Manchester Bidwell. He founded job training programs and also a community arts program to help and mentor young people. When Bill Strickland was younger he did not have the tools and everything he gives to the kids now for mentoring. Strickland’s life changed when he found pottery. It was something he was good at from the start. Bill grew up in Pittsburgh, and it was not the prettiest. People were losing their jobs and the town was falling apart. Strickland’s mother shaped him to be a successful man. She did not let him “fall into the ghettos trapdoor”. Strickland spends his life trying to fix the substandard neighborhood that he grew up in.
“He has finally learned to love big brother” was how George Orwell in his novel 1984 described Winston, conversion to the party are represented by big brother at the end of the novel. It is easy to believe that at this instance, after torturous reeducation that Winston has endured, he has lost free will and no longer be able to freely choose to love big brother but was forced to, against hiss will. Therefore Winston was never free to love big brother, and in fact not free at all after his “reeducation.” But if we are to accept a definition of free will that stipulates that we are able to produce and act on our own volitions we must accept that Winston has retained and has chosen to love big brother out of his own free will.
The theory of determinism simply stated is the notion that all current events and everything we experience is determined by past occurrences and we have no control or freedom of choosing what happens in the future(McLeod). It is argued that determinism states that the future can predict and everything that has already happened in the past has an explanation to it. The predictability of events, however, is the principle and we can’t actually predict everything. It follows natural science laws to determine how predictable an occurrence is. If occurrence A is often followed by occurrence B, then A follows B, therefore if A occurs, the probability of B occurring can then be predictable. Several laws and statistical factors are ignored

In the construction of the Large Hardon Collider, physicists seek and hope to unlock the mysteries of the universe by analyzing the attributes of the most miniscule particles known to man. In the same way, theologians have argued back and forth over the course of human history with regards to the divine attributes of God, seeking and hoping to unlock the mysteries of the metaphysical universe. Although these many attributes, for example omnipresence, could be debated and dissected ad nauseum, it is within the scope of this research paper to focus but on one of them. Of these many divine attributes of God, nothing strikes me as more intriguing than that of God’s omnipotence. It is intriguing to me because the exploration of this subject not only promises an exhilarating exercise in the human faculties of logic, it also offers an explanation into the practical, such as that of the existence of evil, which we live amidst every day. So with both of these elements in hand, I am going to take on the task of digging deeper into the divine attribute of omnipotence in hopes of revealing more of the glory of God, and simultaneously bringing greater humility to the human thinker. In order to gain a better understanding on the subject of divine omnipotence, I am going to analyze four aspects of it. First, I am going to build a working definition of what we mean when we say that God is omnipotent. Second, I am going to discuss the relationship between divine omnipotence and logic. Sustainability is an issue that everyone should be concerned about. If the planet Earth is going to exist, as we know it, everyone should wake up and do their part to help achieve a greater level of sustainability. In my English 101 class we learned about the issue of sustainability. Many different topics were discussed and researched throughout the course of the semester. Overall, I think that the sustainability project has been a learning and enlightening experience for everyone in this class. Many more things can be done next semester, since the groundwork has been laid to continue this project for time to come.
Sustainability is when something can be used and not be depleted, destroyed, or damaged past recovery. As we work to live sustainably, we are in effect making use of our resources in a fashion that doesn't eliminate them, and doesn't harm their source. Our resources come from the environment around us and we need to make sure that it is not harmed as we use it. According to the EPA, sustainability stems from a single principle that "Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment” (Sustainability Information). Considering this, it's obvious why we need to make sure we live sustainably and do not damage the source of our resources, our environment.

We are currently at a turning point in time. What the world does today will ultimately determine what the future has in store. We can commit ourselves to continuously working to develop sustainability in every aspect of life, or we can continue to degrade the precious environment like we have been for so many decades. While many people have discussed ways to take action, nothing drastic has been accomplished. Instead of recognizing the importance of this issue, countries turn their attention to fossil fuels and extraction in an attempt to grow their economies and power. As an advocate of sustainable development, I hope that the citizens of the world will make the right decision, but only time will tell.
In this context, the present state of the environment can be changed by thinking about how different it will be in the future if no efforts are put to make things right. The present generation requires ultimate leadership and citizenship that entails thinking ecologically and can understand the connection between human and the natural systems. In class we discussed what sustainable development meant to us; each group had its own definition. Our group’s definition was that sustainable development is for the long term for future generations, for the basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and job. The basic will increase over time and our resources will diminish, which why sustainable development is important. Sustainable development is important for future generations so that they end up with a world better than ours. Sustainable development is achievable if society works together to meet everyone’s basic needs and create a better world.

These three components are indispensible, they compel to depend on each other. I believe that we have several responsibilities towards future generations, including sustainable energy sources, managed resources, conservation, and to impart knowledge of environmental sustainability in a widespread way. By showing the world the severity of our need for conservation, we will be able to save the earth and get the most out of our resources. By reducing our consumption of resources, we will be able to become closer to fixing the problem of global warming, high gasoline prices and pesticide filled meats. The outcome of respecting our world and “going green” will better how we live our lives, our communities and the environment.
