Land Management
Land management as defined by (UN, 2005), is the process by which the resources of the earth are put to good effect. It encompasses all activities associated with the management of land (as cited by Archarya, 2009).
Archarya (2009) further posits that: the organizational structures for land management differ extensively from country to countries and regions throughout the world, and that they are reflective of local cultural and judicial settings.
Also, land management needs reliable information about the existing land and its resources and about the legal situation of these items and programmes. (Kaufmann, 2003)
According to Williamson et al., (2010), land management covers all activities concerned with the management of land as a resource both from an environmental and from an economic standpoint. It can include farming, mineral …show more content…

Economic viability, environmental impact, social justice, intergenerational equity, and biodiversity are all embodied in the concept of sustainability (Dumanski et al., 1991).
There are also spatial and temporal dimensions to sustainability, leading to a dynamic concept which has direct and major implications for the evaluation of sustainable land management (Smyth and Dumanski, 1993).
The measurements as to whether or not a particular type of land use is sustainable in a given environment over a stated period of time can potentially be assessed using a framework approach (Syers et al. 1995).

According to FAO (2016), sustainable land management is crucial to minimizing land degradation, rehabilitating degraded areas and ensuring the optimal use of land resources for the benefit of present and future generations. It also stated that sustainable land management
