After watching The Power of Introverts by Susan Cain I realized it is okay to be the quiet and nerdy bookworm I always enjoyed being. Susan made everyone in her audience not feel awkward or strange for being an introvert. We hear introvert and most think of it as a bad thing we want to be extroverts. We want our kids to be extroverts. Why? Susan’s introduction brought humor to not just the audience but the introverts already nervous to be at her speech. Her introduction was strong and pulled you right into her speech. I was interested to hear why her suitcase was so important to her speech. She drew you in from her story and ad eth story so much more relevant to you and what it could mean to you. She brings real life experiences into her speech. Which still keeps her audience intrigued. She has just enough facts as to real life experiences to balance her speech. She isn’t just sharing her life stories. She displays her commitment to her speech by researching and finding out real facts that are relevant to her topic. They both tie together and make the topic a bit more even real than something she just came up with. Her tone and persona in her speech tells her story of how she was the smart introverted girl that may have been considered dorky. Her tone just draws you in. As she spoke with passion and heart on her subject you can tell her personal connection to the speech and what it meant to her. You can tell that she owned her stage and her presence was known throughout that whole arena that she knew her speech back to front. She was prepared and ready.
