‘“Survival can be summed up in three words - never give up. That 's the heart of it really. Just keep trying,” said Bear Grylls. Unlike other animals, humans are unique and irreplaceable can do many things that other species can’t do. From the second a human being like creature has formed, there are always ways for humans to survive, not matter under what circumstances. Despite all the natural disasters , humans have found ways to survive.
Modern humans have been on this planet, for approximately 200,000 years, while our ancestors have been around for about six million years. “...and the ancestors of modern humans may have survived because of traits such as large brains that helped them adapt to unstable, shifting landscapes...”

Our bodies are regulating temperature, fluid levels, breath and heartbeat…” (Rhinehart 1). Sense of taste, human don’t like bitter flavor, we like sugar or sweetness. Fight, human body can react to danger quickly. Living through extremes, the entire human body is designed to go into action when it senses danger. Why do humans survive? It’s a nature thing, our genes wants to pass on, like Ava Glass said, “Because the ones that didn 't aren 't alive anymore.” To explain, if all human like creature go extinct, we won’t be able a pass on the intelligent things humans …show more content…
It might seem that is true, but most people choices to live. But what are the reasons that lead to those people to commit suicide, that is the key. “Nikki Allinson is a great example of how some students who have been bullied can turn their experience into a passion for helping others… and is now an advocate and leader for the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit organization working to reduce biased-based bullying in schools” (Rizkalla 1). Most people who commit suicide think not only their problems are unsolvable, but also they feel completely out of control. Of course that is not true, there are a lot of people that are willing to help. We first need to understand what is the problem, and tell them suicide is not an option, life is
Suicide due to bullying has been given the name of bullycide. One example of bullycide would be Jon Carmichael from Texas who was bullied so harshly that “one day they stripped him naked, tied him up, and stuck him in a trash can, and they taped it with their cell phones and put it all on You Tube” per his mother’s account (Texas Monthly, Hollandsworth). A few days later Jon was found hanging by a rafter from their barn after committing suicide. The perpetrators of this abuse were his fellow classmates and it is reported that “60% of boys who bullied others in middle school had at least one criminal conviction by the age of 24; 40% had three or more convictions” (van der Valk, 41). Bullying behavior not only negatively affects the victims that are singled out and tormented, but from a legal perspective can lead to long term criminal
“Once I got teased, I could see where the anger came from and what can make someone want to kill,” said Stefan Barone, a fourteen year old. (ABC News) The anger and depression is overwhelming and hard to control. There is no doubt that bullying cause’s suicide, and those bullied often commit acts of violence against others.
...f someone has expressed ideas of suicide and feeling alone, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This is a toll-free call that connects to the nearest crisis center, 24 hours a day. If someone see’s someone else being bullied, always tell an adult that can help. Tell some like a teacher, a counselor, or a parent. Prevention is the number one way to lower bullying and school violence.
“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Martin Luther King Jr. knew it was better to speak up than to stay quiet. This is a lesson that needs to be taught throughout both middle schools and high schools. All around the world, suicide rates are going up, and most of these cases relate back to bullying. The children often do not say anything because they are afraid the bullying will only get worse. When nothing changes, they are driven to suicide to relieve the pain that they are feeling. As Marge Piercy examines in “Barbie Doll,” students are picked on for being or looking different than others. No matter what type of bullying it may be, it hurts people more than they are willing to let on. All forms of bullying, whether it be in schools, physical, verbal, or online, have an impact on teen suicide ideation.
In “But Not Forgotten” by Jennifer Brown, Jenna, a young girl who had been severely bullied for being overweight, kills herself. “ There is no other way” (Brown 287) Jenna said to her best friend right before she took her own life because she couldn’t take the bullying anymore. Most people who are bullied are afraid to get help. They keep it bottled up inside until their breaking point. In most cases that breaking point is suicide. They believe that suicide is the only way to stop the pain. According to Bullying statistics.org kids who are bullied are 2-9 times more likely to commit suicide than those who haven’t experienced it. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary
Suicidal tendencies in adolescents begin around the ages of 10 through 19, with warning signs, prevention, treatment, and the causes and effects it has on the human psyche. Suicide is when someone decides to take his or her own life because and are suffering from a painful mental treatable illness and have lost hope in who they are. Because when hope is lost, some feel like suicide is the only solution to truly make the adolescents pain go away permanently. Scientific evidence that shows the people who have committed suicide had a diagnosable treatable mental disorder or substance abuse disorder (The National Institute of Mental Health, 2010). Those people might have been suffering from illness such as depression, mood disorders, personality disorders and or suffering from bullying. Being a victim of bullying can be linked to suicidal thoughts as well as behavior in adolescents. Other causes might also include having family problems at home, problems at work, school and or with school peers. Suicide is a serious problem though it not only affects the victim, but it also affects family members, loved ones, along with friends.
Additionally, suicide is never a guaranteed way out. There is never a one hundred percent chance that committing suicide will actually work. When someone commits suicide the family will grieve and mourn the loss of their loved one. When someone attempts to commit suicide and fails, the family will forever worry and suffer even more. (EXPLAIN) There are various solutions to any conflict and suicide is never the answer. There are many methods to cope with being suicidal. These methods include talking to someone close, consult a person who has experienced the same feelings and gotten better, or talking to a therapist. Feeling suicidal is temporary depending on the situation and how it is dealt with. Keeping quiet for a bully
Humans have long been evolving physically and mentally in order to survive on earth. They have evolved their physical attributes as well as their intelligence to properly prepare them for the changing environments on earth. Since the Old Stone age, human intelligence has allowed them to continue to adapt to various tasks that were commonly performed by the Old Stone age people. These common behaviors and lifestyles of the prehistoric times would eventually help the human communities to survive in this dangerous world as a successful species. Most of our everyday activities and common behaviors such as living in homes, having a nutritional diet, inventing new innovations, and particularly surviving as a group, are derived from the lifestyles of the Paleolithic people. Although there may be some differences between the aspects of life from the prehistoric and modern times, much of the features of how people lived back then have played a significant role in securing the survival of humanity today.
Bullying pushes people to believe that suicide is the only way out. Many teens have chosen suicide over obtaining support or telling someone. Some examples would be Nicole Dagan, Megan Meier, and Sydney Sanders. They all were bullied in different ways, but they all came to the same conclusion. They felt that suicide was the best way to end it all.
An extreme environment takes strength, both emotional and physical, but even so the odds are not in a survivor's favor. With that said, there are those who rise to the occasion. Nando Parrado and his crew, from "I Will Survive", and Aron Ralston , from "127 Hours", are evidence. Nando and his crew had survived a plane crash, and continued to survive in the bitter, cold Andes for 72 days. While, Aron survived a 800 boulder crushing his arm, trapping him in an isolated slot canyon, alone, and without resources for five and have days. Struggling to make decisions, that challenge their beliefs and goes against their instincts, and having to survive in an extreme environment in their particular situation are the two major challenges Nando and Aron face as they stretch themselves to adapt, surviving only by clinging to their will to survive.
The human body of a survivor is a factory. This factory produces day in and day out 24/7 no matter what stands in front of it this factory it will achieve its goal. Everyone has this factory but few produce at its max level. Some just want to drift through life like a fart in the wind. Some ask how they can get this fire to burn inside them too. One can not just decide to try harder they have to go their hardest to be a real survivor. A survivor thrives off determination, ingenuity, and resilience.
Survival is indeed a word that can change a human’s perspective on what they need to do to remain alive. In order to survive, people have been known to go to great lengths and to do things they would not ordinarily do. I have noticed this throughout my life by watching movies, and reading books. Most of the time, it is the main character who comes face to face with death, and does anything to keep themselves alive. I have set up a few great examples that show’s people in their survival situations, and what they will do to get out alive.
All living organisms contain the will to stay alive, not because it’s in our DNA, but because that’s the way we are raised. We are dependent on this will to survive, whether that be through an apocalypse, a life-or-death situation, or perhaps a tragic death in the family.
Physcially humans and other organisms have clear similarities and differences. One such similarity is a commom ancestry. The first signs of life appeared around 4.1 to 3.7 billion years ago. Over time evolving into more complex life, from single-celled life, into multicelluar oragisms. Multicelluar organisms appeared over 2 billion years ago. 230 million years ago dinosaurs and mammals evolved around the same time from different evolutionary branches. When dinosaurs were declining, mammals were able to dominate the planet. Adaptations are the reason for these species evolution into today 's species. These adaptations come in many forms, but it is for the survival of the species in there environment. Some examples are being communial, flight, and camouflage, and many more. The phisiology of species is dependent on their evolution and adapations, but the phisiology does not always change what a species can do. One of the question posed is that humans are unique in the way we shape our environment. Either creating shelters, into towns, or just making it more habitable. We are not that special as other species can do that same. Beavers are a prime example as they can deforest large areas of fore...
Too many adults seem to think that bullying is just part of being a kid, but it isn’t, and it has a negative and sometimes long lasting effect on others. Bullying Statistics show that “Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.” What some people do not realize is that there are many different types of bullying that include physical bullying, emotional bullying, sexting, and cyberbullying. There are many warning signs of suicide. Depression, interest in death or dying, engaging in harmful activities (e.g. substance abuse, reckless behavior, and self-injury), giving away personal possessions, saying goodbye to people, and making comments about how life would be better off without them. If you are hearing or seeing any of these warning signs, take action! According to Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection about Bullying, there can also be negative mental health issues, anxiety and
