Bigger is better. That is what people constantly hear in the world around them. This ranges from the biggest sale on Black Friday, to the new supersized burger at McDonalds. People strive to exceed the ordinary and make things extraordinary, and to do this; you go big or go home. One of the best examples of this is the creation of monster trucks. Monster truck rallies have been around since the late 1970’s and were inspired by the basic pick up trucks that got transferred into monster trucks. These rallies are a motor sport entertainment can be found on television or live in a field area. The main attraction of the rallies is the focus on the monster trucks with the freestyle tricks and racing that are performed. These events are vast. It’s a large arena holding large trucks watched by a large crowd of large people drinking large beverages, and that is what America fell in love with. One of the main reasons monster truck rallies is so popular because of the size of trucks. (New Republic)
In the late 1960’s, pick up truck competitions known as the “biggest truck” became very popular. These competitions inspired a small group of men to build an even larger truck to appeal to people and make the competition more popular than it was before. Bob Chandler, the creator of “Bigfoot,” is very famous in monster truck history. His creation of “Bigfoot” opened the eyes to many monster truck lovers, which led to the inspiration to build many more enormous trucks. Throughout the years, several other monster trucks started getting built due to the amount of attention and popularity Bigfoot attracted. The men that started the monster truck building, started an association called Monster Truck Racing (MTRA.) This was the start of the sport’s ...

Stock car racing has evolved a great amount since 1920’s when racing first started. The cause of racing was because of the Prohibition. The 18th amendment banned the production and possession of alcohol. So people had to make their own liquor, called moonshine. In order to make money from liquor, part of the job was to deliver it to their customers, but with the law enforcements trying to obey the new law, Moonshiners had to make their runs at night. They also had to use vehicles that would blend in, and would not create too much attention, but those vehicles couldn’t out run the cops, so they decided to make some slight modifications to them. After moonshiners made these slight modifications, they were able to run 120 mph on a dirt road without using headlights. Soon after, Moonshiners started to race each other on the weekends.
Needless to say, that experience has changed over time. It began from a simplistic design in 1904 as a motorized bike. However, as time progressed it brought about the introduction of the biker gang era. These were the bad asses image riding their heavy bikes down the highway, rebels who refused to give in to society’s pressures. It was the time of the Hell’s Angels, with their patches, long hair, and untidy beards that became the symbol of freedom on the road. They created the mantra of the bad ass dude on a bad ass American bike and no one was gonna tell him what to
When our country was at war, the military identified the need for trucks. Trucks were very important because it was difficult to find away to transport all the supplies, troops, and food. After WW1, this brought an increase in good roads plus an expanding economy. This helped grow the trucking industry. The 1920’s were the years of innovation. The balloon tires were introduced along with the rail road’s that were established “piggy-back” service. The first mechanically refrigerated van was introduced. In 1925, there were 500,000 miles of hard surface roads in the U.S. In 1926, a fully loaded 2 ton truck was driven from New York to San Francisco in five days.
Muscle Car," two distinctive cars come to mind, the Camaro and the Mustang. Throughout the era of the early 1950's and 1960's, there was a revolutionary movement that took place and paved the ground work for today's "Muscle Cars" known as the "Ponycar Era." Ask any avid Camaro or Mustang fan about the ponycar era, and watch their pain. They will describe cars that would light the tires on fire, floor it, and hang onto the wheel excitement. Back in the 1960's a new idea was soon to hit the American market, the Ford Mustang. When the Mustang was introduced, General Motors soon to had to follow with their own type of sports car. The car they generated was know as the Chevrolet Camaro. The cars themselves were introduced within the matter of a few years of one another. From the day that General Motors and Ford realized that these cars were very similar in horsepower, torque, standards, and etc... they soon started to pit them against each other in an all out battle that has still last to present day. However, the Chevrolet Camaro has always had the slight advantage over the Ford's Mustang.
When Dodge says in their opening sentence that their company is always open for new ideas, they could be suggesting that other companies are not as willing to accept change. They also insinuate that they give people what they want and expect from a truck, resulting in the company's success. Implying that their company is "legendary" because of their reputation for having powerful trucks, they show complete confidence in the fact that their truck is better in its class.
In conclusion, Allstate had a lot of ground to make up, but they were being proactive in trying to find ways to gain their fair share of the marketplace back. Sponsoring motorcycle rallies was probably a great marketing idea, and one that came to mind even before I read it. People, especially bikers, want to be understood and accepted. Being able to convey that and capture part of that market means more profits for Allstate and happier customers.
Alejandro is a four-year-old child who attends kindergartner in a school in the Bronx. There is one book, which he loves to read and always carries with him in his book bag when he comes to visit. Due to the barrier of language between Alejandro and his mother whom only speaks Spanish he does not get the opportunity to read books in English with his mother. Alphabet Trucks by Samantha R. Vamos introduces the reader to different types of trucks while learning the alphabet at the same time. During our time together we read the book and incorporated the PEER sequence strategy, which involves and encourages the child to read. I began by reading the title and the author of the book, which Alejandro repeated with me. I then turned the book to the
In the last thirty-eight years, Ford has known how to target the audience they have for the F- series of trucks. After the new advertisement that Ford produced it can be implied that they replicated their success again. the shiners would soup of a car and use it to out run the cops. They ridge runners knew the back roads and mountain trails better then anyone. With the help of there cars and the knowledge of the labyrinth of roads the ridge runners began to out run the cops. This then started the bragging. Each ridge runner believed they were the fastest driver in the mountains. They began to have competions to see who was truly the fastest. One of the most famous drivers was a man by the name of Junior Johnson. He was a shiner who had been caught and had spent a year in prison. He got out of prison and went back into the fast money life sytle of running shine. In his prime he was considered the fastest man on the ridge. Despite their conception in 1903, Harley-Davidson and the motorcycle industry as a whole didn’t really take off until after the Second World War. Many people rode motorcycles during the war, with Harley-Davidson themselves supplying almost 90,000 motorcycles for the U.S. military during this time. Many veterans chose to purchase motorcycles upon returning home, as they enjoyed riding during the war and wanted to continue riding in their civilian life. This generation known as the "baby-boomers" quickly became the main target audience for many of Harley-Davidson’s marketing efforts. With sales increasing and the industry growing, many "motorcycle clubs" and "rallies" were introduced. Unfortunately, due to the lewd behavior displayed by most people associated with these clubs and rallies, bikers typically had an image of being disorderly and raucous. Harley-Davidson’s image itself took a big shot due to the Hells Angels. This was a motorcycle gang wishing to become notorious for "drug trafficking and other organized crime activities," who used only Harley-Davidson motorcycles. All of this combined to lead to a decline in demand and sales throughout the entire industry during the 1960’s. The industry was really helped out with the release of the Hollywood film Easy Rider in 1969. This film helped change the public’s perception of bikers and sparked an increase in motorcycle demand which has lasted to this day.
