The Sunni Islam is regarded as a non-religious group. Sunnism is a branch of Islam that is regarded as the widest. Sunni Islam is based upon the fundamental beliefs on the “five pillars” of shahadah, fasting, prayer, almsgiving and pilgrimage. These beliefs are identical to the general Islam belief system. The umma or the unity of the Muslim community is based on the earliest leaders that involved the prophet, his companions and successors. The main inspiration of the Sunni Islam comes from the Quran that is regarded as the Holy Bible and the hadiths. Hence, the consolidation of the hadith literature forms the basic foundation of Sunnism. Sunnis just like all Muslims believe in the Quran as the actual form of scripture that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad by Allah or God. The Sunnis therefore considered the Quran as unique and uncorrupt records involving God’s communication with human beings during the twenty three years of the prophet’s vocation. The most distinguishing feature of the Sunni Muslim involves the reliance on hadith as broader descriptions of legendary perspectives. The hadith therefore forms an important element in the Sunni Muslim belief system. The hadith serve as a source of interpretation of the Quran as each hadith is generally accompanied by a list of names or isnad that gives the narrative reports (Holmes, 2007).

The prayers are distributed throughout the day and there is prayer for every part of the day for instance dawn, noon and evening. The prayers are usually led by imams who engage in the process of directing the congregation in the prayer session. The Sunni Islam group is grounded on the Quran that is regarded as the Holy Book. Another distinguishing feature among the Sunnis is the use of hadith that involves the description of various literary works. The group prohibits the use of imagery representation of God and the prophets and engages in the use of mosaic artwork in their places of worship. The place of Sunni Islam worship is known as the mosque. The imams are considered as community pastors and involve in offering inspiration to individuals and solving of their issues.
