"Summer means happy times and good sunshine. It means going to the beach, going to Disneyland, having fun." This quote by Brian Wilson shows that extending the school year would not only feel more like a punishment but it would also be hurting the school. Some of the main reasons for summer break is so that: students and facalty can take a mental break, summer activtes, and so that teachers can get things ready for the new students comin in. This hiatus helps keep down the chaos.

During the school day students are put under a ton of pressure. Between worrying about "Did I get my homework done!" or "I hope Mr. Brent does't give out a pop quiz" students also have work at home to do. All of these things stack on top of each other and cause stress. If a student is too stressed they will either fall behind in their acidemic work or become ill. When people say "A teacher's job is never done" the same goes for the student. Summer break gives both students and teachers a chance to take a mental break before they have a mental breakdown. …show more content…

They also look to see how active in the community they are. Summer break gives students a chance to get involved or lend a hand. Agricultural students may attend the county fairs. Students interested in forien languages may be interested in visit other contries to learn about their culture. Summer camps might not seem very educational but they really are. They give you a chance to boost your teamwork, leadership or problem solving
