Watching “30 Days Living as A Muslim” really did not teach me anything, but surely made me angrier. First of all I found it very offensive for someone to attempt to make most of the ignorant people in this world to comprehend what Islam, which is receiving such hatred and insult, and Muslims who are going through too many victimization just to survive and be treated equally as other followers of God’s guidance within 45 minutes. I felt ashamed and disgusting. What does it mean? If it is more than an hour, won’t people watch it? Is it too long for us to be exposed and thought about our people who are not treated fairly as human right in front of our eyes? He seemed as if he did what he did, because it was the right thing to do. Dave shaved, Dave learned the language, Dave lived with a Islamic family, Dave wore their clothes and went to pray with them, Dave ate their food and did not go against their tradition. Nevertheless, as soon as he left he cut off his beard. We can say he is a christian and maybe he just like his beard shaved . Yet, from this video all I saw was that he was far from comfortable going through this experience of “living as a Muslim”. He was not happy praying in a foreign language, nor happy with the fact that he had to kneel when he prayed. Most of all his interview at the radio station proved it all. He sounded still resentful about September 11 and very closed to the idea of the existence of other religion, because of the fact that he thought Muslims were sincerely apologetic about the unfortunate actions the terrorists are committing. Religion is one of the oldest and most sacred things in history. It was passed down for generations both orally and in writing. Religion started off as a very simple belief in an afterlife. Over time it became more complex and began to include deities and rituals. Each area of the world developed its own beliefs and practices, but two religions that are very similar and yet vastly different are Islam and Christianity. These two religions are the biggest religions in the world with a combined total of approximately 3.4 billion followers. Their similarities and differences can be seen in how their religious books were put together and their beliefs and practices.

Christianity on the other hand believes that Jesus is God the Son who became a human being. People receive eternal life by believing in Jesus and following his teachings. Christianity had a major impact on the West, particularly in the arts, philosophy, and society. From 750 AD to the early 1400s, Islam was gaining territory in all parts of Europe by invading the countries in uncommon ways such as creating a cultural fusion and a pocket of Muslims that are inhabiting the area. Christianity then made it’s rise in the Americas in the late 1400s with the Spanish missionaries that forced conversion on the people. Both religions have changed over the time for the people who believe in it, but have stayed central to their beliefs.

The following information is given to open an eye to the culture of Islam, an overview of the basic pillars and behaviors a nurse or medical staff could see or hear. When those in the healthcare setting have a good basic understanding of a culture it will become easier to treat the person as a whole, and to understand how to care for the patient and the family.

It made me see that people can form prejudice by judging what they do not know, and that I have a privilege that my race and ethnicity is hidden through out my life. I was representing symbolic ethnicity where I was able to hide that I was Muslim when I was not celebrating Ramadan until than it was something very hard to conceal. All this has led me to identifying myself as Arab American.
In the Muslim community, a strange phenomenon has been occurring within the last couple of years due to religious ignorance. Scores of Muslim men and women around the world have become apostate due to many problems and faults within the global Muslim community. One of the most prominent faults and problems within the global Muslim community is the up rise of deviant groups who have caused despicable amount of damage to the world under the name of a religion, which does not tolerate such actions. Never the less, the unique part of this global situation is that many Muslim youth are being attracted to this deviant propaganda that they believe is apart of Islam.
The two largest religions in the world, Christianity and Islam, were implemented by two of religions most powerful leaders, Jesus and Muhammad. Without question, both Jesus and Muhammad have affected humanity powerfully. As religious leaders both men laid down the principles upon which Christianity and Islam are founded yet today. However, while Jesus performed miracles and arose from the dead, thus proving to his followers he was God, Muhammad performed no such feats, and made no such claims. In fact, Muhammad’s only claim was that he was the last prophet sent from God.
In recent modern times, the Islamic faith and culture has been scarred by bad publicity and criticism worldwide concerning terrorism, fanaticism, and the treatment of women. All these issues have existed in most religions throughout time, but the treatment of women is different in which most other cultures and religions have minimized the issues and Islam, under its attempts to also end it, has failed to create a society in which the treatment of women is equal to that of men. The treatment of women, beginning from the time when they are born, to the time of their marriage, to the moment of their death, has not been equal to that of men despite the actions taken to end the injustice.
