Christina Mendoza is a young, accepting women who is in a position of being the best candidate for a MOOC; Massive Open Online Classes. Based on the evidence from evidence from “The Year of The MOOC,” Mendoza is best suited for a MOOC. Mendoza learns to become independent, hardworking, while learning to embrace herself how she is. However, some people believe that Mendoza will now make a good candidate for a MOOC. Mendoza might not make a good online class candidate because she has never been to a MOOC before she has only been to traditional classes. Another, she might not make a good candidate because she feels the need to fit in. According to the article, “The Year of The MOOC” Laura Pappano provides you the evidence,”….. The video pause perhaps twice for a quiz to make sure you understand the material.” This piece of evidence tells us that it might be difficult to take a quiz online because taking a quiz online is different from taking a quiz in a traditional school. It might be difficult for Mendoza because there is no teacher to help you out. According to Mendoza’s essay, she states that “Growing up in a small conservative community, it is easy to be shoved into your own category if you don’t look or act like everyone else.” This shows an attribute of how Mendoza grew up feeling she needs to fit in with others and she needs to interact socially with others. Mendoza is not a good candidate because on online classes you can’t turn to classmates for help because there are thousands of others in the class.
