They participated in many of the major events due to the Knights of Labor such as the Haymarket Riot and the great railroad strike. Labor leader and advocate of legislative labor reform, Samuel Gompers was globally recognized for being a cornerstone in the sustaining legacy that is the American Federation of Labor. Gompers was born to a Jewish working class couple in London on the 27th of January in 1850. His childhood was short lived, for he was forced to mature early on. After only four years of receiving an elementary school education, Gompers was taken in and apprenticed to a shoemaker at the age of ten. He would quickly switch off trades and become apprenticed to a cigar maker in the east end of London; Gompers would continue with the cigar trade for a quarter of a century.
George Pullman tried to hire people to break up the strike but ends up being unsuccessful. Federal troops were sent in and the court rules that workers must return back to work and the strike is ended. A more successful collective bargaining union was known as the American Federation of Labor (AFL) founded by Samuel Gompers in 1886. Resistance in the workplace is nessicary at times to prevent getting stepped on while climbing the corporate latter. Granted there are also times when the best thing to do is sit back and let things happen. There are however times when an employee must make some noise to be heard and noticed. When someone sees oneself about to be passed up for a promotion that they are entitled to, he or she must do something. Another time some form of resistance should be shown would be in the case of a supervisor or manager on a "power-trip". A person should not just let a manager create work or assign jobs that do nothing more than waste valuable manpower because it makes them feel important. My last example of resistance in the workplace is competition between departments that hinders the progress of the other department. Ideally none of this would happen but in today's society ware everyone is out for himself or herself sometimes someone has to shake things up a bit.

The Big Five emerged from the work of multiple independent scientists/researchers starting in the 1950s who using different techniques obtained similar results. The development of a person has to do with who their parents are, how they are rasied, their environment, etc. and that is very crucial. Every person acts the way they do for a certain reason and that it showed by many theories throughout time.
In the study of psychology there are four major theories of personality. They are Social Cognitive, Psychoanalytic, Humanistic, and Behavioral. Of course, they are all different and portray different types of behavioral patterns. Personality studies have been founded on the perception that all people are alike in some ways, but can be different in other ways. I have placed the four personality theories where I think they belong on the nature versus nurture continuum.
Personality Theories The Big Five Approach plays a major role in the process of understanding and analyzing a child’s outcome, as well as any adjustment issues that may occur during a child’s development. Along with these accomplishments, the Big Five approach has proven to be able to cover children, adolescents, and adults under one spectrum (Van den Akker et al., 2013). This study not only incorporated the study of personality extremity throughout childhood and adolescence, but the issues between personality extremities and personality adjustments as well (Van den Akker et al., 2013).
The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality The principle of separate corporate personality has been firmly established in the common law since the decision in the case of Salomon v Salomon & Co Ltd[1], whereby a corporation has a separate legal personality, rights and obligations totally distinct from those of its shareholders. Throughout the course of this assignment I will begin by explaining the concept of legal personality and describe the veil of incorporation. I will give examples of when the veil of incorporation can be lifted by the courts and statuary provisions such as s.24 CA 1985 and incorporate the varying views of judges as to when the veil can be lifted.
I have been reading a lot about the Big Five Model of personality traits. It is a popular outlook on the 5 main traits human beings possess. These Traits are: Extroversion, Neuroticism, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and openness. This is a long standing debate of whether who we are and how we act is a result of inner personalities are because of “genes” and “nature” or a result of situations and events in life or “nurture”.
