Success is on your terms

Finding a workable pathway to a personal goal cannot be found through a web search, in a book or by conversation. Instead, it is found over a gradual period of time where reactions, interactions, motivation, dedication, effort and flexibility educate the individual and in turn he or she is better prone to reaching their goal.

Determining what you want to study immediately out of high school is not feasible without life experience and reality. For myself, I had no idea. My best work comes out with passionate material which is shown through business and culture, both I have rich experiences in. Aside from all experiences, I know how to build upon those. I went through two major experiences filtering out my strengths. One was a three acre self-managed produce farm. The second was living on an island in the North Pacific Ocean within the Native Alutiiq culture. My years of work have pinpointed strengths I can increase at a university.

Taking advantage of the agricultural assets formerly present, I rented land and planted three acres of vegetables. The crop required weekly attention. With my crew of hired hands, weed maintenance, irrigation, pest control and flower pruning took place. I had three employees. After I harvested the produce I drove it by flatbed truck to the public farm market and my roadside stand where it was sold. The farmers market showed me the pros and cons of the many options of physical in person advertising. I noticed older male customers were attracted to a layout where the produce was aligned perpendicularly to one another and younger female customers had less of a preference than the former. I have successfully self-employed myself, convinced buyers at the famers market to buy from me, observed the layout of the Kodiak logistics service operate, lived and watched a culture so diverse and obscure from the rest of the world work and succeed, though most importantly I see each situation is compatible to the ideas and reasons for the respective culture and no one is more right than the other.

I would like to study Operations Management at the University of Arizona beginning this summer semester. I look forward to my career continuing here. Thank you for your time.
