LEAD Style preferences
The primary style is used most frequently. My primary style is High Task/High Relationship, Participating (S2, S3 with 5 responses). My primary style is divided between Participating and Selling. I received the same score and percentage in both categories. My secondary style is telling (S1). I received a score of 2 and 17% in the category. In the telling category, I value high task over relationships.
My style range is S1-S2-S3. The style range provides a sense of how flexible I am with different types of behavior in an attempt to influence others according to the Lead Assessment profile.

I have an adaptability score of 25 which is very moderate. The adaptability score implies that am somewhat likely to change my leadership style due to the situation. A high adaptability indicates a good work performance, a positive attitude, ability to take control quick when an emergency occurs; however, a low adaptability indicates the opposite such as not able to cope with stress effectively or handle more than one thing at a time.
According to Dr. Paul Hersey, There are four different types’ of leadership styles. They are telling, selling, participating and delegating. Based on my scores, my leadership is more Selling with moderate readiness. Moderate readiness indicates that I lack a certain skill or knowledge but I am willing to participate.
Task- oriented vs. People- oriented
My preferred style is S2/S3. I am more people oriented than task oriented because I scored relatively high on those questions. Being more people-oriented than task oriented help me understand people emotions when a conflict happens by knowing how to solve the problem in an appropriate way. Since am sort of people person, It can affect my work performance but putting assignments off or not completing them. The downside of being people-oriented is feeling overwhelmed or frustrated when different challenges comes at once. To improve in this area, I would need to balance the two out by more becoming more organized

In the Open-Mindedness personality section, my percentile is a 7. I’m more close-minded, meaning I tend to be conventional, down to earth, narrow interests, uncreative, and I prefer traditional and familiar experiences. In the Conscientiousness personality section, my percentile is an 87. I’m more conscientiousness, meaning I am reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful; reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful, very well-organized, and can be relied upon. When it comes to the Extraversion personality section, my percentile is a 7. I’m introverted, meaning I tend to be shy, reserved, inhibited, quiet, and I probably enjoy spending quiet time alone. When it comes to the Agreeableness personality section, I scored a 78. I tend to be agreeable, meaning I tend to be good natured, sympathetic, forgiving, and courteous. Finally, when it comes to the Negative Emotionality personality section, my percentile is 67. I’m a little bit more nervous/High Strung than Calm/Relaxed.
When reading through the strong interest inventory result I found it interesting, as well as, eye opening in some aspects. My theme code is that of SER, which stands for social, enterprising, and realistic. I feel as though all three of these themes describe me and how I see myself, because while looking at the values, interests, skills, and activities that are with associated with each theme I relate mainly with that of SER.
My style of leadership according to the quiz by Cherry (n.d.) is participative leadership which is a type of leadership that engages the members of the team to participate in decision making and problem solving while the leader makes the final judgment in the deliberation process. This style of leadership allows members who are experts in their fields provide input to reach a more effective and accurate decision. This fits exactly into my leadership style. I always believed that in every aspect there is a greater or lesser person than you are, so, why not focus on the best in others and tap on their expertise in knowledge or skill to get the best results.
The idea of what’s morally right and wrong changes within each culture whether an organizational culture or between individuals. However, the best leaders are the ones who do what’s right and best for the organization. During this research paper I will attempt to define the term leadership style and its concept. Moreover, I will attempt to describe three leadership styles, the development and the process one would follow to modify their leadership style. When pertaining to myself, I never saw myself as a leader but I will attempt to describe my leadership style and the advantages and disadvantage I would have in a business environment.
The first personality test was the basic personality test. The assessment from the basic personality type indicated that my personality classification is an ESTJ (Llorens, 2010). The results found that I am more extroverted than introverted; I tend to be more sensing than intuitive, more of a thinker versus a feeling individual, and I am judging versus perceiving. The interpretation indicated that I am realistic, logical, analytical, decisive, organized, and I like to run things. The results were interesting, the analysis and interpretation was extremely accurate to my tendencies and my current role in my organization. The result provided me with insight to my tendencies and approaches to situations that I face each day as a leader in a multi-faceted organization (Llorens, 2010). Additionally the results indicated that my personality type matches my career aspirations as an Executive Program Manager in a corporate setting. Understanding and accepting my tendencies as an ESTJ personality type helps me be more introspective and insightful of my approaches and how I treat people and convey expectations will make me a more aware of weaknesses and strengths and use the knowledge to improve how I engage with others.
Leadership is a quality many of us strive to achieve. To be an excellent leader has been an elusive quest. However, the pursuit of excellent leadership is movement in the right direction. In this paper we will examine the major types of leadership styles. The three types are, Participative or Democratic, Laissez-Faire, and Authoritative.
If I had to pick one that I feel suits me best, it would probably be number nine. Type nine is also nicknamed the peacemaker or mediator. This describes me pretty well as I hate conflict and just wish everyone could agree to disagree. According to the results, at my best I am peaceful, patient, and diplomatic. I have to agree with these traits for myself, as they are also described by my two colors, specifically blue, from the True Colors Quiz. It also informed me that I am forgetful and apathetic on my worst days, this couldn’t be more of the truth, though I find that I am forgetful even on good days. When I am having a bad day all I want to do is go to my room, curl up in bed and sleep. I tend to not care about things that I normally do care a lot about. One of the things in the results that I absolutely love is that I love discussion but hate confrontation. I love talking about controversial subjects with people who are mature enough to agree to disagree. One of the practical suggestions for nines is to avoid acting like everything is fine when it is not, this one speaks directly to me. I always pretend that everything is fine even when it clearly is not, and this course has helped me learn that I really need to work on
Leadership is the glue that binds any business together, identifying and understanding your type of leadership style can ultimately aid you in becoming a better leader in your professional career. A successful business cannot function without leadership therefore this is a crucial aspect of internal employee development for businesses striving to stay relevant in a crowded marketplace. In addition to recognizing your leadership style every leader needs to look to them and identify what type of personality they have. By becoming an informed business leader you will gain trust and respect of your team to guide them into the future and maximizing potential growth. Throughout this paper I will identify my leadership style and also personality type and how it has affected my personal career growth. Identifying these conclusions is extremely important in crafting company culture.
On projects I have taken the lead on, I have always valued input from other employees. This assumes the fact that the employee is competent in their area, and have a willingness to share ideas with management. Leadership is defined as the action of leading a group of people or organization in order to accomplish certain goals. A leader must possess certain power or ability to hold a leadership position (Al-Sawai, 2013). There are several leadership styles identified over the years. Regardless of his leadership type, a leader must be able to influence his organization and be aware what motivates his team members, so that the goals can be accomplished.
Hence one of the practices of the Learning Styles Inventory is to let the learner to build developmental purposes for increasing their competence in the under-represented styles: for example, somebody who is a poor activist may deliberately plan to carry out further activities to absorb from. Styles Inventory is to form teams of people who as a group exhibit all of the four styles in a composed way (Gallagher K., 2013 p. 23-24).
There are a few different types of well known leadership styles, authoritarian, delegative, and democratic. To assess my leadership style I used two online tests to help me determine my style. I felt the results were accurate and I fall into a democratic style/participative style. If I am leading I prefer to include the group and get their feedback on solving issues. However, I still make the final decision after listening to the thoughts of the group on a particular topic. This is considered to be a positive style of leadership that is inspiring to the group involved. The leaders decision making tends to be more accurate due to the input of other experts. (Cite)
The leadership style combination between autocratic leadership and empowerment leadership would give the futuristic cutting edge per se, to create a diversified ultimate decision making policy. Autocratic leadership, which is a style that leaders who make decisions on their own without consulting employees enjoy and empowerment, which is a practice in which managers lead employees by sharing power, responsibility, and decision making with them (Boone, L. E., & Kurtz, D. L. 2009 p. 260-270). This mixture creates responsibility and accountability. If the leader is made to lead then, in return they will make certain key decisions based on experience, proven results and a “pocket” of advisors that will guide them based on their on comprehension of the field along the way. This creates a “hierarchy” which is necessary to let the employees who are coming up on the ladder to have a cause and effect “history” so to speak, for many different common and uncommon situations to use in the future.
In this paper I will look at the four major leadership styles, their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and in what situations a particular leadership style is desired. Additionally, I will look at my leadership style and how I acquired this style throughout my career.
