Food plays a vital role in different sports; Food can certainly make a difference in any competition. The main focus of an athlete is to be in condition, maintaining strength and speed. However, the study on the nutritional element show the importance of nutrition as it favors the athlete performance. The knowledge of eating proper and healthy food before, during or after a physical activity can make an athlete in better health to achieve a desired goal. Starches, minerals, sugars and electrolytes are most important nutrients category as starches and minerals are regarded as the complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrate has many bonded sugars that is a reason they are called polysaccharides. Due to multiple bonds in polysaccharides, they are able to store energy which can be used later by an athlete. Simple sugars are also regarded as carbohydrates. In compare to the complex sugar, simple sugars are less advance then the complex sugar which make burning of the simple sugar easier in the athlete body. Lastly, electrolytes are important to an athlete because it helps athlete during the energy storage or to burn the energy. Minerals also play a vital role in the Athlete, as mineral compound helps athlete to work on tolerance in a competition. A mineral such as potassium which is a common mineral is link with the muscle cramping in an individual. If a athlete lacks potassium in the body it can lead to muscle pain, muscle cramping during the competition. If an athletes lacks any minerals than supplement should be taken at least six hours before any completion because Minerals are really complex which make them harder to transfer into muscles. Complexity of minerals is the main reason why minerals should be consumed long before any ph... ... middle of paper ... ....Regular consumption of sugar and electrolytes are important during the competition. To supplement these needs power bars are made especially for quick sugar consumption. Power bars contain saccharine which helps in the rapid oxidation. To restore the electrolyses and simple sugar beverages like PowerAde and Gatorade can be consumed. These beverages contains high amount of electrolytes and simple sugar. Water is also a substitute for the electrolytes but, energy drink contain concentrate amount of electrolytes. The higher concentration makes it higher absorption in muscle cell. In conclusion, for a athletes, proper nutrients foods and supplements can increase the energy level when needed. Proper diet is very important for the strength speed of the athletes. Nutrition plays a vital role in contributing better performance. And every athlete should be aware of this.
