Effective Communication The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) mentions effective communication more than one time on the website. Effective Communication is part of the vision and mission statements for this professional organization. The ASHA’s vision statement is “Making effective communication, a human right, accessible and achievable for all” and the Mission statement is “Empowering and supporting speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists by advocating on behalf of persons with communication and related disorders, advancing communication science and promoting effective human communication” (“About ASHA”, 2011). The website is very organized and has important features to provide information “accessible, usable and relevant to a variety of people in a variety of settings” as Gurak and Lannon pointed out.
Most individuals are faced with difficult situations that require specific trainings or skills that most people do not have. Orientation of Adult Learning helps equip that individual with the basis of self-awareness and academic concepts to make sure that each individual is able to succeed. There are several academic concepts that were researched and discussed in this five week course.
Effective communication is the glue that helps you deepen your connections to others and improve teamwork, decision making, and problem solving. It enables you to communicate even negative or difficult messages without creating conflict or destroying trust.
Great communication is the key in life. I believe that a way a person communicate can take them far in life. Effective communication helps connect with people. It can open many doors for many different jobs. It lets the employer know who they have hired, and how intelligent the person really is. In the business profession effective communication allows managers to give understandable instructions to their employees. Effective communication will help state what is expected from workers. Effective Communication can be used in all aspects of the workplace.
Communication is a flow of verbal and nonverbal details. Having communication helps everyone have interaction with others. With interactions with others we build relationships, and with communication, we can either build a stronger relationship or break it with either negative or positive
By knowing the purpose of communication, you’re able to understand each other and know how to respond. Effective communication also solves difficulties, while identifying solutions along the way. It also helps you to learn how to respond in certain discussions, whether you are talking with a prospective client or a company you need to gain specific information from, the purpose needs to remain clear so you can complete this task.
Communication is the establishment or a give-and-take of thoughts, ideas, emotions and understanding between a sender and a receiver. It is essential to building and maintaining relationships in the workplace. Some highly productive and dynamic organizations are distinctly different and striking due to their excellent skills in communication.
Communication is the process of conveying information to each another using words, actions, or by writing the information down to be read by another person. Communication is something that most people do at some point each day, and is an important part of life especially in a working environment. “The concept of communication is an essential part of every profession, and it is required to foster and maintain healthy relationships”( Jasmine, 2009, para. 1).
One’s career, school life, and even socializing are affected by communication. If you do not know how to communicate, you probably do not have many friends. Communication has been used since the days of the cavemen. When the cavemen learned to communicate they greatly increased their hunting potential. When they learned to communicate on the hunt and before the hunt, they caught much more game then when they were just randomly running after the animals with spears. In school, if teachers and students could not communicate well, how would anything ever get done? In a business, communication is the most important ingredient. Working at a corporation at a higher level, you deal with hundreds of important emails, meetings, phone calls, and other forms of communicating with your co-workers.
Communicating effectively and in a professional manner is not only important in how other people view us; it could determine which jobs we are able to obtain as employer Kevin Weins brought out. Everyone can benefit from trying to communicate more effectively. Trying to improve my own communication skills has helped me in my own life and career and can help other people in their own careers and in their daily life.
