Welcome to Student Checking 101. This class meets blah, blah, blah. During the first day and you hear the same opening lines. Well, we listened to the opening lines with regard to student checking accounts. Margarette Burnette wrote an article recently for Bankrate.com titled “Student checking accounts: How to find the best bank”. She gave 5 tips to look for when selecting an account and we are going to type them for you 1 by 1, then show you what our VIP Checking Account has. 1) Low-to-Minimum Balance Students don’t usually have a regular source of income so it’s important to make sure your balances can go low without penalty, says Ken Cyree, a professor at the University of Mississippi. 2) Free Checks and Debit Cards Look at fees associated with things like out-of-network ATM withdrawals and …show more content…
According to Margarette NSF fees or Non-Sufficient Funds fees which average over $33. 4) Online and Mobile Banking features Features that make it easier to bank with your busy schedule and less likely to be near physically close to a branch. It is also important when/if you go home for the summer and branch is not in your immediate area. Transfer money, track spending, deposit checks, and monitor balances all at your fingertips. 5) Proximity and Convenience This contradicts number four it would seem but who do you turn to if you lose your smartphone or pc? What if you need a debit card replaced? Don’t rule this one out when you make a selection. So you learned 5 things from Margarette. More information can be found at Bankrate. Now look at the chalkboard and see what we have to offer with our VIP Student Checking Account. We covered the 5 tips Margarette wanted you to look at plus some. Thank you for taking Student Checking 101. If you opened a VIP Checking Account you probably were aware you get an A+. Some information courtesy of
The costs associated with the online banking operation were out weighted by the benefits provide by the program. Resource had to be taking from other areas of the bank in order to start the program, which included creating the website, make it secure and promote it to customers. However, many benefits also came with the creation of this program. The first would be that it changes the patterns in customer uses of different banking channels. In active users of online banking there were drops in the use of some on the other banking channels. Another benefit is the retention that was created by online banking. This happened because once a customer entered all their information they saw it as a buried to switch bank and have to do it all over again. Therefore, customers would stay more and longer with their current bank.
Wells Fargo is an extremely popular bank that many people, including me, use. Wells Fargo is an American bank that is the third largest bank in the United States, the first two being JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America respectively. The bank’s headquarters is located in San Francisco and since I am from this city, I would love to intern at the company and maybe work at the bank in the future. There are many things I love about this bank, however, the most enjoyable asset about Wells Fargo is its convenience in both the overall bank and in tracking your purchases and your card by simply putting your username and password onto the Wells Fargo website.
Student loans are a trick to the mind and a trick to your wallet. When getting a student loan all the student thinks about is “Now I can afford to go to school”. The sad truth about that statement is that 90% of the people who get a student loan cannot afford school and they really can’t afford to pay the loan when they get out of school. David
University 101 has helped me acclimate me to college life at Northern Illinois University. When I first started here, I was extremely nervous for the new environment I was going into rather blindly. However, after taking UNIV 101, I learned some valuable information to better myself for my future college endeavors. Thanks to my professor, peer educator, classmates, the novel, and the text book, I will be able to continue throughout college with confidence and stability.
...great benefits and better convenience I believe Bank of America will continue to be successful and have a greater advantage over other banks.
Checking accounts in commercial banks have no interest on their money. In general the money in checking accounts are high in liquidity, which makes them easy to use for paying bills. Putting money in a checking account puts your money at no risk, and guarantees a safe place to store your money.
Do you ever wonder why students in college are always in debt? Students in college are always low on money because of the student loan they take out. Taking out a student loan isn’t a good thing. You can take another path on paying for college. After taking a loan out for college you soon become broke and can’t afford anything else.
Freshmen year is essential although it is by no means as essential as Junior year because during junior year a student is a preparing for college by taking significant test that determines a students college choices, going to on the job training that help provide the skills and training in order to have a job and it’s when a student is preparing to choose what college(s) they enroll in.
Freshman year for me was not the easiest. New school and new people, a whole new beginning. I was always a very shy person so it was pretty hard to get used to it and then it all went downhill. My absences went from not that bad to extremely bad in a matter of weeks. It was extremely hard to catch up in all my classes and my grades reflected that. If that was not bad enough a few months later my mom got extremely sick.
Freshman year of college has been a rollercoaster. Everyone’s freshman year is a rollercoaster of emotions and events but everyone rides their own ride. Mine started with my best friend on move in day. Yes, my best friend and I moved into the same dorm room ready for the best year of our lives. Turns out this was just the beginning of my extremely long first semester of uphill emotional and mental struggles.
Homework has been around as long as parents have demanded it and just as long has it been a topic of heated debate. For instance, some people are hopelessly enslaved to the idea that the amount of homework assigned in a particular subject directly determines the rigor of a course, or the installation of a strong work ethic through worksheets and packets galore is the only way to accomplish such feats; both of which have stained the attitudes towards homework and have shifted the focus away from homework’s primary objective—to learn! In short, teachers deliver it unquestionably; students complete it involuntarily, and unbeknownst, parents support it (Jackson 57).
The first portion of my freshman year is a poor reflection on who I am as a student. An incorrect choice in major, inadequate use of college resources, and poor mental health led to my GPA to plummet lower than it had during my entire career as a student. The second half of my freshman year does a better job at portraying who I am as an individual and as a student. I am dedicated, ambitious, and willing to learn from my failures rather than let them define me. During that second semester I was willing to do whatever it took to turn my academic status around and once again become the best student I could possibly be. This included speaking with numerous counselors, meeting regularly with teachers, and every single resource made available to
Buyer Power: Customers have a choice of three other major banks to turn to when they need better service and lower prices.
When thinking of an incident where I experienced failure, what comes to mind is the end of my first semester of junior year. My report card came in the mail and when I got home and was already opened by my parents. The look on their faces said everything, no words were exchanged just looks of pure disappointment and sadness. My parents just like any, wanted me to do well in school and to hopefully go on to college and become successful in my career choice. As you know junior year is said to be the most important year, grade wise in high school. I didn’t realize, just like in freshman and sophomore year, how important doing well in and taking school seriously was. My parents assumed my freshman year grades were just low because high school was a new thing to me and I was adjusting.
It's the last day of freshman year and I feel great. I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, I passed all my freshman classes and am now a sophomore.
