In America alone, only about 51% of Americans exercise 3 or more times a week, and 18% exercise only 1 to 2 times a week (Shy). 30% of American sadly doesn’t do any type of extracurricular activity or exercise at all (Blackburn). For the people who don’t exercise, try to because you can really only benefit from it. The one’s that already do know the health benefits for exercising. Aside from just exercising, one activity or activities you could do is weight lifting/strength training. Most people don’t think about this but strength training is actually a big key for exercise.
Strength training, one of the most important parts of exercise, is usually overlooked. People don’t understand that something as simple as jumping jacks is considered strength training. Most of the populations everywhere don’t understand the health benefits of it either. Some may try for a few days or weeks and expect drastic changes, but change doesn’t just happen so quickly. You can’t go to a cow and expect a cheeseburger. Change doesn’t occur that fast. Most people look to strength training for losing weight or even to gain muscle mass. These are the reasons why I starting strength training, but I later found out about all the other health benefits that came along with it.
The health benefits can be categorized into two categories; physical health and mental health. Physical health starts with losing excess fat or gain muscle, to helping with endurance/stamina, preventing disease and muscle loss, and strengthening bone and muscle density. Mentally strength training can help with anxiety and depression, and it even helps with your thinking skills. Overall it can also help increase your life expectancy by years (McMullen 1).

... could possibly increase your mental health. The people who don’t keep themselves hydrated, you hear about them when they pass out due to dehydration and loss of oxygen to the brain. Hydrations is definitely something that adds on to increasing your thinking and mental health.
Overall, strength training along with keeping yourself hydrated can really increase not only your physical health but your mental health as well. They are losing excess fat or gain muscle, helping with endurance/stamina, preventing disease and muscle loss, strengthening bone and muscle density, helping with anxiety and depression, and it even helps with your thinking skills. With all of these health benefits, you can also notice muscle tone or in other words you are starting to look sexy or buff. Strength training should be a part of everyone’s life, and it could definitely be a part of your.
