Strength and conditioning of an athlete could be considered and art and science. It will require a vast knowledge of the sport, activities during practices and time management within the time frame of off-season, pre-season, in-season, and post-season. Baseball is one of sport that that will require most planning and management due to the intense schedule during the season. On the collegiate level, baseball season is stipulated to last for 16 weeks, plus playoff. During this time, teams will usually play one game during the week, and three games between Friday and Saturday.

First, during the off-season baseball, players should be encouraged to improve the aerobic training to maintain the body weight, and avoid the increment of body fat and muscle atrophy; obviously, they will need to perform some light sport related activities such as hitting, base running, light bullpen sessions, and defensive drills to maintain the skills and abilities levels.
Pre-season for collegiate level last around 16 weeks until the beginning of the season, during this time the baseball teams will have a some limitation for the hours of practice on the field. From my point of view, the 16 week of practices should subdivided in 4 cycles of 4 weeks each, which will allow the adjustment of the training on the aspect of intensity, amount of resistant and repetitions, and frequency.
