Strength one- Fitness Component: Balance in Football In my chosen activity of Football, I believe that balance is one of my biggest strengths. Balance is defined as the ability to keep the body stable by maintaining the centre of mass over the base of support. In the Midfield position, there are many different types such as a: Playmaker, Box to Box, Winger and Creator. For my specific striker type (Creator) you have to make yourself available to receive the ball to attack the oppositions’ area and score goals or even take the ball up yourself and it is a necessity to have the ability to stay on your feet as you weave through and fend off defenders. To be an efficient passer you will need to be able to perform many different types of passes such as Shot Pass, Long Pass (AKA. Ping), Switches (Passing to the other side of the field) etc. It is widely said In Spanish football for example that “the ball moves faster than players “, this is why they put an emphasis on passing so much. The skill to pass the ball and spread the play could separate two teams’ potential chance of winning in a game. One recent example of passing was in a school game. We had just got the ball back from the opposite team in our half and the ball was passed to a defender and passed to me in the centre. From then on I looked up and saw my striker making a run and moved out wider to play a better pass for him. I moved out to the right and played a through ball to him into the oppositions’ half. He used his pace and got the ball to finish and give us a goal in a match that we ended up winning by one
