Scientists are under the impression that UVA radiation can damage the skin physically, which is another major cause of skin cancer. Dermatologists suggest wearing sun block in order to protect your skin from UV rays. Sun beds and sunlamps are artificial sources of UV radiation, in which are another form that can cause cancer. People who have fair skin or light coloured eyes are more at risk of developing skin cancer. People can develop skin cancer from certain weather conditions or areas.

Dermatologists, The International Agency for Research on Cancer, the American Cancer Society, and many other organizations have done numerous studies to show the public the evidence. To begin with, we must first understand what we are exposed to when using a tanning bed. There are two types of rays that our skin absorbs when in the tanning bed and also in the sun. They are UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are the ones that cause your skin to burn, to redden, and cause discoloration.

); till today, heredity, lifetime exposure to environmental estrogen (the female sex hormone), and the dietary fat are the only major known causes (“Cover Story: Breast Cancer and Environment”). For the 75% unexplained breast cancers cases, scientists, through various of researches, have come up with several hypothetical breast cancer causes, in which synthetic chemicals and environmental radiations are the major ones. A lot of evidence have linked breast cancer to the environmental chemicals. Since WWII, a great deal of endocrine disrupters (synthetic chemicals) have entered the environment, accumulated through the food chain, and finally accessed into human bodies (Brody et al.) .
Widespread opinions about tanning and health benefits of sunlight lead many Australians to intentionally overexpose themselves to the sun. State cancer councils have developed sun safety and awareness campaigns, such as “Slip! Slop! Slap!” and “SunSmart,” to educate the population about sun exposure and encourage early detection of skin cancers. Gradual changes in knowledge and behavior indicate that the fight against skin cancer can be won.
