Stossel Opinion Essay In the video, Stossel talks about how activists and other people have started wearing Che Guevara as a symbol of their protests. The Che Guevara clothing has also become a “cool” thing to wear. Stossel talks about his opinion on the matter, saying that he doesn’t agree with it and it isn’t cool. He says that Americans shouldn’t wear Guevara because he didn’t support things the American people supposedly believe in such as free press. I agree with Stossel because those people shouldn’t be wearing something that they don’t know very much about. Che Guevara was born in Argentina and originally wanted to be a doctor. After going through college, he travelled to help people but the things he saw swayed his beliefs about the world and politics. Someone then turned the photo into a t-shirt design and it mostly became popular for the same reason that people adorn bands that they don’t listen to. It became known as ‘terrorist chic.’ Like the producer of Chevolution says, “We live in a culture today where understanding symbols doesn’t necessarily matter.” The image has also become associated with being a rebel. The reason why activists and unions use Guevara as a symbol is because, as the lady from the teachers union said, “. . . he’s a good role model for all of us, in terms of standing for the people. . .” Che Guevara is not an appropriate symbol for people to be wearing. Whether they’re wearing his picture to show that they are supporting something and they believe he is a good role model for it, or if they know nothing about him, people still shouldn’t wear his picture. Argentine born, Marxist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara played an important part for the Cuban revolution as guerrilla, as minister of industry, and as a figure that influenced the Cuba 's revolution with his philosophy of a "new man," a new society that could be motivated by the morals rather than by personal gain. He was a first doctor, then a soldier, and a teacher in-between in the Cuba army. Here is where the revolution begin.
From July 26, 1953 to January 1, 1959, Fidel Castro led an uprising against the incumbent Cuban president, Flugencio Batista. This insurrection, known as the Cuban Revolution, was successful in the overthrow of the Batista government and implemented a socialist state under Castro’s rule. Although Castro was the figurehead for revolution in Cuba, his brother Raúl and friend Ernesto “Che” Guevara were instrumental in helping the revolution to succeed. As I look at this picture I feel bad for the hard times that these people had to endure. It makes me upset with the way this country treated African Americans They are fighting for something they believe in and will stop at nothing to earn what they deserve. It shows the powerful message of the movement, which was to gain equal rights and prove that they are equal citizens. The message is to show how these people fought for their cause. The photo does show that they were willing to fight for their rights by capturing the people’s pain in their faces. The photo shows the determination and drive to gain equal rights. I see people running away from water being shot at by hoses to stop the protest for these rights. The water represents the sacrifice for the pain they must endure in order to get what they want.

Fidel Castro was known for his athletic skill and for his smarts. He went to the school for and started studying under the law career at the University of Havana. A popular saying goes by a picture is worth a 100 words and when it comes to my image (artifact), the same can be said about the image I selected from the whitehouse.gov/issue website. The image was found under civil rights and the image has a quote inserted into it. The image has prominent members of the society whom were very involved in the civil rights movement like martin Luther king. When it comes to diversity, the image compromises of diversity in race and age group. The artifact consists of landscape, the white house and the American flag and also it is in white and black. Che Guevara attempted to have a revolution in Bolivia and Guatemala. In Mexico, he trained for his return to Cuba in 1956. The textbook also mentions how Fidel Castro formed local camps as a new revolutionary power (510). They continued to fight in urban areas. It was not until 1959 where they defeated Batista and his government. Many people were happy because Fidel Castro became the president of Cuba. The Cuban people had faith in Fidel Castro to improve the state of Cuba and benefit the people unlike Batista. The Caribbean: A History of the Region and Its People state that, “In 1958 almost all Cubans agreed that a renewed Cuban nationalism would approve their future,”

The protest poster ‘moms takes action against gun violence’ is protesting the fact that guns are allowed however kinder surprise eggs aren’t. The protest is put together by a group called moms take action. This group is simply saying that kinder surprises that kill 3 people globally each year are banned due to this in the interest of child safety, however guns that kill over 1500 kids each year are still fully legal. This applies to logos as it tries to discredit the logic behind there system.
