An autocratic leadership simply means that only one person is in charge. Many team members did not influence his decisions. His peers hardly ever challenged Job’s decisions making. Steve Jobs was the main person in charge of decision-making and typically made decisions based on his ideas rather than solid evidence. Some words used to describe Steve were impatient, stubborn, and hypercritical, if not downright cruel at times. While this style of leadership may seem harsh to some it has opened a door to success for Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs was a transactional leader who influenced his employees to have a strong desire for work and provided them with vision. He was a task oriented leader his focus was more on task and organization performance than on people. Job got people to follow him rather they like him or not. Job was also an adaptive leader he used himself as an example to lead the company. Jobs was not concerned about how the employees felt his focus was only on their ideas. In the article it states, “Leaders can learn a lot from the late Apple CEO, but not all of it should be emulated.” In the speech it states, “And just last year, with the introduction of the IPad, Apple jumpstarted an entirely new product category that no one thought they could live without.” Both the article and the speech are recognizing Jobs as being an exemplary leader.
