How did the movie “crash” change the character attitude toward each other?
In the movie “crash” people from different racial group crash in to each other and at least two of the characters come to recognize how their prejudice and stereotyping is based on their accidental encounter with members of other social groups.
This movie has all the prejudice and stereotype that could happen between different races. But they do not show how they used to feel before and how they feel after encountering to different races until they crashing in to them. One example is when Sandra bullocks character Jean Cabot saw the two-black men walking by. Her face and body expression change, she held her husband tightly because she scared of them. And she also was angry with her maid, because her maid was Latino also. But one night when Jean fell of the stairs and was hospitalized at home, her close friends and husband did not have time to stay with her, and did not seem to care, while her maid was there for her and even stayed overnight to take care of her. So, when Jean saw that she started to understand that she should not have judged her maid by her race, and regretted for her bad attitude toward her maid and gave her a big apology hug.
Another type of stereotypical occurs, when officer John Ryan with his partner Tom Hansen were working on a case to find the stolen car of Mr. Cabot. They encountered different black people with the car that looks exactly like Mr. Cabot’s stolen on. Even though officer John knew the car wasn’t the stolen one, he still chose to stop the car and start going through the license of the owner of the car Cameron an African American man. Jean Cabot learned that all races are not the same and she should not have prejudiced her Latino maid. And Officer John regret to what he did to Christina and her husband Cameron, and saved her life a second before the car she was in exploded. He risked his life to show how sorry he was. It’s a lesson to everyone not to judge people on how they look but to judge them on what they are from
