I, Likhitha, have been fascinated by the advancements in technology and innovations. Since my schooling, I have been inclined towards problem solving; this made me to opt for sciences – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in my high school education. Gradually I was introduced to one of the most ingenious human innovations: the computer. Soon I was attracted to the fact that it has a major role to play in the contemporary world. My interest in them propelled me to learn language packages like C, C++, J2SE and advanced Java, and also take up the courses on Oracle, MySQL, HTML and MATLAB. Hailing from a family with both the parents from teaching fraternity I was continuously motivated and encouraged to undergo education with full fervour and enthusiasm. Due to such favourable and promising conditions I could complete my school education with utmost zeal and an assiduous approach. I had the opportunity to learn the basics of Html, Ms Office etc. This paved the first step towards creation of my interest in the field of computer science. After my high school, I got admitted to Kasireddy Narayan Reddy College of Engineering & Research, Andhra Pradesh, India, one of the reputed colleges in the state. The excellent faculty and facilities have provided a strong base, which is why I could clear my B.Tech in First class. During these four years I gained knowledge on various subjects like Computer Networks, Data base Management System, Object Oriented Programming Language, Advanced Data Structure, Distributed Databases. Now I feel a need for expanding my knowledge on these subjects and further improving my skills in subjects like DBMS and Networking. After securing 205th rank in All India Entrance Exam, I got admitted in the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra,INDIA --an institute of national eminence-- one of the top 20 institutes in India. My under-graduate syllabi has exposed me to all the core areas of computer science like data structures and algorithms, software engineering, operating systems, compiler design, automata theory networks and network security. These courses have provided me a good foundation in the core concepts.
I can still remember how frustration and desperation engulfed me on the first lecture of introduction to computer and C language, when I found myself cannot understand any single word the professor said. It is simply because I never get to know how computer work before starting undergraduate study. However, instead of just sitting in the lecture room and feeling sorry for my ignorance, I prefer trying me best to fill in the gap and make some difference. Armed with my outstanding mathematical and logical mind, I soon understood the basic computer components and concept of programming. Learning from the easiest C language program to the complex one with iteration or pointer, gradually my confidence established and my interest developed. After I gained 93 out of 100 of this course, I was encouraged to have the aspiration that being a computer engineer. Then on the other computer science courses I also performed perfectly. My
“Expectations and uncertainty are the joys of life”. I am filled with a sense of Already Vue as I bring my pen down to fill in the application form. “Every great and commanding movement in the annals of the world is the triumph of enthusiasm – Nothing great was ever achieved without it”. With this enthusiasm, I set out to seek what I require to enhance my knowledge, right from school to under graduation and now into post-graduation. My strong curiosity towards the field of Cybersecurity dates back to my pre-university days when I started reading sci-fi novels. Digital Fortress, a techno-thriller novel written by Dan Brown, explored the theme of government surveillance, security and civil liberties. This theme is brought out in the book by portraying cryptographic techniques, security policies and implications of these policies. This gravitated me towards the field of security. With little programming experience, I was eager to begin my nascent adventure in the field of Cybersecurity. Although I’ve gained exposure in the field of security during the course of my Bachelor’s degree, I believe pursuing a master’s degree in Cybersecurity will allow me to explore the field of security in greater depth and utilize it effectively to address more real-world challenges.
