“You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not?’ ". I was 14 when I first came across this awesome quote by the great G B Shaw. I can say that this was the concoction that inculcated my liking towards engineering and I started looking at things from engineering perspective. I was born in the ‘DETROIT OF INDIA- PUNE’, a city which had many global automobile car/truck manufacturing facility. As a kid who lived in the locality surrounded by car/truck manufacturing companies and other auto ancillary, was enthralled by the state of art manufacturing facilities and the engineering behind producing a vehicle. My inclination towards automobile grew when I first visited TATA MOTORS, Asia’s major automaker, in my 8th grade of school with my uncle who worked there. I was amused by the huge machinery, automation and world class technology. And there I made a decision to pursue 'Mechanical Engineering' as my undergraduate degree initially and later Masters in Automotive Engineering, the only way I can satisfy my quest for knowledge and then contribute to it in a positive and constructive manner towards automobile industry.
The mobility has influenced many areas of a human's life since the invention of the wheel. While, in the early days of motorized vehicles, technical developments concentrated on simple mechanical or electrical issues, in the past decades, the electronics and with it, the microprocessor technology has become a central part of innovation in vehicles. Future developments of trendsetting style will be the conversion of the drive train from purely internal combustion engine to hybrid or alternative powertrain systems, the car-to-car communication and the autonomous vehicles. The automotive sector is a major industry in America. The invention of the automobile in the late 1800’s revolutionized transportation. It wasn’t till Henry Ford in 1903 with his Ford Motor company, was the automobile made available to everyday Americans. Ford’s invention of the assembly line brought the automobile sector into a large industry in America’s economy. According to Veronica Franco of Market Research stated that in 2010 the auto industry had a global value of $728.3 billion. He projects that at the average growth rate of 24.1%, like what we saw from 2009 to 2010, by 2015 the value of the industry will be at $904 billion. So what does this mean for the future of this industry? It is going to continue growing. To see where the industry is going, one must look at the past, present, both the American and global sector, and the future projections.
Every great civilization or dynasty has always had one thing in common – great structures. These mammoth man made marvels have stood the test of time and have magnetised volumes of information that are vibrant all over the city skyline. Coming from the Indian subcontinent, we still live in an era where old structures prevail amongst 21st century structures. Blessed with a keen eye to analyze and observe, I’ve always wanted to pursue a career where problems could be overruled through the inclusion of concepts and real time solutions. I have been a consistent performer since school days scoring a high 89.92% in grade 10 and an 85.16% aggregate in grade 12. I have always had an affinity towards mathematics which drove me towards my real passion - engineering. Naturally when considering tertiary study options, Civil Engineering was my first choice as I could see myself working in a field that allowed me to use various maths and physics concepts to solve problems instantaneously. The poise and versatility with which a civil engineer works fascinates me; which in turn led me to pursue my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at B.M.S College of Engineering, Bangalore – one of the oldest most prestigious autonomous institutions under Visvesvaraya Technological University.
The world of technology is ever changing and advancing. With the automotive industry in play technology is constantly surpassing what is available today with what can be done for tomorrow. Technology and the automotive industry go hand in hand with constant improvement to components of cars. Due to technology advancement there is competition within the car industry, especially between American car companies and European car companies. European car companies provide their buyers with innovative variety and revolutionary luxuries. European car technology is superior to American car technology due to their safety, entertainment, and luxury features.
Cars are my passion in life and the reason why I am who I am today. I will start my own business in the aftermarket automotive tuning industry. With my determination and a college education nothing is impossible.
Learning is a continuous process and the day that you stop learning is the day that you start decreasing your rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving.
I have always been interested in cars. Since my childhood I had the wish to know the mechanism of how cars work; so that I can build my own cars and eventually create and design my own brand. Due to the new revolution in car industry my interest in cars has gone even higher than before because these new revolution cars are environment friendly. This new revolution has been brought to the car industry by the introduction of hybrid cars because of the high fuel consumption and the increasing pollution; this is the best alternative despite the low performance and high maintenance cost, hybrid cars will overtake the conventional cars soon.

The automotive industry constitutes one of particular importance in today’s societies. Over the past 50 years, automobiles have allowed people to live and work in ways “that were unimaginable a century ago” (Hwang, 2014). Automotive vehicles are “fundamental to a functioning global economy and to the well-being of the world’s citizens” (Hwang, 2014) while it also plays a key role in the technology level of other industries and of society (Hwang, 2014). A large part of the world’s population is employed in related manufacturing and services; automotive vehicles are built using the goods of a number of industries, including steel, iron, aluminum, glass, plastics, glass, carpeting, textiles, computer chips, rubber and more.
