Recommended: Ethics is a crucial aspect of effective leadership

Education and learning are integral to not only endeavor to excel but also our quest for spiritual solace. In the aftermath of some recent financial events ethics are going to play a bigger role and leaders throughout the world will be tested by the choices they make. In my perspective, a successful leader has to firmly establish an environment for creating value not only for his immediate team but for the community through clarity of vision and facilitation of ethical decision making. Thus in today’s times, it’s absolutely necessary that business education sows the seeds of moral integrity, spiritual wisdom and chaste conduct in the future leaders. An international degree in business from a school with strong emphasis on innovation, research and sustainability thus becomes necessity for aspirants of global business leadership. It is this perspective which has drawn me towards Sheffield University School of Management. I can strongly correlate the vision and mission of the school with some of the guiding principles of my life and career. Belonging from a small township, my formative years saw me struggling for quality education and opportunities for personal growth. To help my father meet the ends for the family’s basic requirements, I, at a very young age, got involved in his clothes store and got an exposure to ‘customer dealing’ as a virtue in its rudimentary form. I made intense efforts to excel in whatever academic opportunities came along. I studied community development as part of my under-graduate degree in Agriculture, with developmental, economics and financial management as an integral part of my course which drew me towards a career in Banking & Finance. I have represented my undergraduate college in chess and football. I have also completed 200 hours of community service as part of college chapter of National Service Scheme of India. As a reward for these I won college level awards for three years and was selected as Student Representative in governing body of RAU Pusa, The Senate during my tenure in the university. During my professional career, I have been actively involved in staff welfare activities and team outings. I believe that my experiences align beautifully with School’s mission of educating global leaders. School emphasizes on fashioning leaders who contribute to the welfare and development of the global community. My background, education, work experience and competencies when garnered make me an exquisite fit in dynamic and research driven environment of School.
