Statement Of Purpose For MS In Computer Science

My immediate degree objective to carry out MS in Computer Science with major in Software Engineering to expand the horizon of my education that I gathered from undergraduate level and to utilize the experience gained from professional exposure. I wish to follow it up with a PhD degree to pursue my career in research and experience the excitement and satisfaction of being at the forefront of this field. My strong interest, for learning new ideas with my inner desire to reach a degree of excellence in every piece of work I perform, enabled me to acquire significant knowledge on various aspects of technology, as well as leading me through a successful educational career. Right from my early childhood, I developed the curiosity to learn new topics. Watching closely to my father's work in the field of electronics and computer played a crucial role as my mind molded towards this technical studies.

The mind must never be kept idle because of its tremendous capacity to absorb and learn. After careful consideration of my aptitude, interests and experiences gained while pursuing my under graduation in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, I have decided to pursue my Masters in the field of Computer Science. Being a dynamic and ever evolving field, many new developments are expected and there is immense scope for research on new products and applications. To progress and make a mark in this field, I realize that it is important for me to pursue my Masters from a reputable university. I have always dreamt of taking up research.

My main objective of pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science is to expand my horizon and knowledge in this domain and also to place myself at a premier position in the highly competitive IT industry. I am primarily interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Data Management. Having done an internship for 6 months, gave me an exposure to a professional environment in which I could implement my knowledge. It also gave me a deeper understanding of numerous fundamental concepts of Computer Science and provided me with a strong groundwork for my further education. My academic curriculum in School was responsible for molding my interest in Computer Science.

This paved the first step towards creation of my interest in the field of computer science. After my high school, I got admitted to Kasireddy Narayan Reddy College of Engineering & Research, Andhra Pradesh, India, one of the reputed colleges in the state. The excellent faculty and facilities have provided a strong base, which is why I could clear my B.Tech in First class. During these four years I gained knowledge on various subjects like Computer Networks, Data base Management System, Object Oriented Programming Language, Advanced Data Structure, Distributed Databases. Now I feel a need for expanding my knowledge on these subjects and further improving my skills in subjects like DBMS and Networking.

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” This is the principle that I follow throughout my life. I have always aspired to choose a career that would mean work that really simulates me and holds a natural appeal for me. Advances in Computer and Information Technology over the past few decades have brought about revolution in science, medicine, education, business, and entertainment. I wish to be part of the future revolution and that is why I want to study Computer Science.

Pursuit of Masters Program in Computer Science from a reputed institute would be the first step towards my objective. I am an ambitious and passionate individual with great desire to learn as much as possible and utilize that learning up to my best abilities. Computer Science has remained one of my greatest interests since my school days. Growing up during the golden age of Computer Science, I have witnessed the astonishing progress of Computer Science. From video games to online shopping, I have witnessed the massive impact of technology on our lifestyle.

I am very thankful for providing me this opportunity and it is with sincere sense of gratification that I pen down my brief statement of purpose. Striving for betterment and improvement has been my motto in all aspects of life and the same applies even to my professional and academic career. Getting to know what goes inside computers, the engines of the Information Technology revolution and knowing how to work with them enables one to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Understanding this, I chose to do my undergraduate study in Information Technology. While reasoning my intentions to pursue MS in Computer Science at your esteemed university, I would like to throw some light on my career till now.

This realization started when my professor of Principles of Programming Language introduced us to Linux Operating System. Over the last three years, my penchant for research has gradually burgeoned especially, in the fields of Systems. I started experimenting with open source tools which improved my programming and data structure skills a lot. An excellent exposure to Machine Learning and basics of Neural Networks in the past 4 years, has motivated me to continue my studies further at your university, as I believe it is the most resourceful department that caters to my interests. I look forward to a career in research under your tutelage, which will assist me in applying my academic knowledge to make noteworthy contributions in the field of my interest. I believe that graduate studies would provide me with opportunities to attend advanced courses and would be the stepping stone in my career. The active researches carried out by Prof. Timothy W. Bretl and Professor in the field of Machine Learning also have encouraged me to apply here.

I am positive that my academic records and practical knowledge combined with my eagerness to do research demonstrate the perseverance and zeal required to pursue Masters Degree in your reputed university.
