Ever since I was a young girl I would dream about being a nurse. I wanted to be a nurse just like my mom. I would ask her to buy me scrubs and a doctor’s kit. Of course she did and I lived in those play clothes. I looked to my mom as my inspiration. I loved to see her face when she talked about her day at work and all the babies she helped deliver. When I was old enough my mom took me to work with her. I was able to experience what it was like to work alongside my mom, the nurse. She was so tentative, and caring. She treated all her patients with respect and care. I loved it. She was so kind. After that day I knew I would go into nursing. I know that this is for me though. I have the desire, passion, and courage to become a registered nurse. As a high school student I was able to take a three year course of Health Occupations. In that class I learned basic health care knowledge and became NOCTI state certified. So what that means is that I am able to go apply for a certified nursing assistant job, or a nurse’s aide job and have the qualifications for it. I took it upon myself to become First Aid, CPR, and AED certified. Also while I was I that class for the three years I was able to go on internship. During my time at the hospital I knew I loved that job. I was able to shadow a few nurses and really get involved, well the most that I was allowed. But the hard work and dedication the nurses put into their job shows. Especially when they love it. I did see some who didn’t have the heart for it but I guess that reflects more on them. It will continue to improve and get better through new discoveries and advancement of technology. All nurses have Florence Nightingale to thank for helping nursing become what it is today. Although, it didn’t come without hardships over the years. The health care field will always be where I want to be and where my heart is. I think that as a student going into nursing this report has been very helpful to me. I was able to do research and get a better knowledge of the field of nursing. I hope that this can encourage men and women to seek out the health care field and truly love nursing for the selfless act that it
