Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, produced from two different geographical locations, are two of the most popular coffee shops in the United States of America who share the same market niche and serve similar products. By examining two advertisements for the same product, we can identify aspects of the sales pitch that are intended to create an overall experience for the customer. The Starbucks theme is to stand out to customers and to be recognized as a unique coffee company. The Dunkin’ Donuts main idea is that they are the best and most affordable coffee drink on the go for the average consumer. (Champagne) Two exact opposite ideas. To express the main idea, each company uses different elements. Starbucks uses their logo which lends an element of worldly purpose to show that Starbucks is not just an extra-ordinary place to get your coffee, but a company that cares about the world and environmental issues as well. The Dunkin Donuts picture however, is simple it is the image of a coffee cup. The affirmation is in the simplicity of message. Starbucks organized their advertisement by showing they stand out. There are thirty cups and out of all of those thirty cups, only one has a Starbucks logo. Dunkin Donuts, however, used informal techniques that appeal to the average American on the run. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are two similar companies, and have two similar products, but took two different paths to advertisement based on different company mottos and ideals. It is clear that both companies have excelled in the market and have many similarities and differences due to their marketing advertisements.
